For those who read my Audi swirl thread, I witnessed this very same problem last night at the Autogeek garage. We were taking final pics of Louie's 928 when I noticed a spot that looked like a smudge in the shape of an arrowhead by the drivers headlight. I grabbed a MF but it wouldn't wipe off. A couple of the more experienced guys saw that spot and said it was in the paint as I am sure they tried to wipe it as well. Louie and I were standing by the car talking about that spot and what may have caused it. Louie thought maybe it was bug splatter.

While talking about it Louie rubbed his bare finger over it and it started to come off. He rubbed it more and it was gone!

On the Audi I used a black Hybrid pad and PO85 but the 928 was already waxed. IPA and Griots pre wax cleaner wouldn't touch it either on the Audi. So my questions are . . .

1. How and why does this happen?

2. Why won't the MF wipe it clean?

3. How do you guys remove it other than the finger method? :)

1. You are definitely not buffing long enough and/or over use product and/or product builds up on '1' pad overtime during buffing. Which means you need to change a new pad.
2. I really don't know. Maybe Mike can answer that.
3. To me. Re- polish it.

I wouldn't doubt that in my case but we had pro detailers working on the 928 and it fooled them also. It's just so odd the MF does nothing but a finger works. I'm wondering if a foam pad would work because it's more grabby?

Any pad will work. Yes polishing oil looks so much alike to holograms.

The human body naturally excretes many types of "body-oils"...some of which are acidic.

Also, since humans seem to perspire more profusely during 'sporting-events' (such as having their prized possession being touched/detailed by others than their ownself)...It seems, more often than not, that an individual's previous evening's "activities" will attempt to: Begone! from one's inner being.

So...And...(You never know where a finger may have been!)

-What did Louie have for dinner the night before? (ex: Garlic-laden foods)
-With whom did he dine?
-Any particular: after-dining experiences, of which we should be made aware?

Consider:
-Have Louie automatically be entered into: "The New Product of the Year" award---

**(An Idea)...
New Ad Campaign:
No more MF Towels...Just have Louie point the way!!
