Polishing technique

im using a rotary. IPA wipe down is a alcohol wipe down right? I have to go over every spot like 3 times to get scratches out and theres still some how frustrating
Yes ipa 50/50 water .No one said it was easy.Another thing but i haven't tried it yet i have a purple wool pad from what i've been told this will correct your scratches better then the orange pad and better results.I used the orange pad on the vette and i wasn't able to controll the rotary very well .So used the white pad and yes twice .Maybe you need to step up to a wool pad ?? Zoom would know Ashault rocket the pros

I'll be there, so look for me or see Meghan. She knows what I look like and we'll see what can be done. Be prepared to use some wool......:D

and what do I need to look out for using a pfw? I am about to order either m105 or menzerna powerfinish im not quite sure which one to get

Your welcome, you would need M105 with a wool pad, And just go over the area's that you can't get the bad swirls out with SIP. Just take your time, no rush! Wipe down after that and check your work. Then Nano and 85rd then wipe down again, for your final inspection. and wash your car from here would be good, From there it's up to you on what you want to use for a LSP. And your going to need more than a 12 pack for sure.............I love M3's..:D.......My avatar is from a M3

haha! lol. Well if you want to pm me a contact number so that when I get there I can catch you. What lights should I get to be able to see imperfections better? are those fluorescent lights that you hang up and have the long white bulbs any good? I need better lighting I have a 1000w halogen light but it sucks lol i dont know why its too yellow for me i like white lighting.

Halogen lights should be fine (1000 watt), under different lighting you will go crazy looking for swirls. Just use the sun for lighting when in doubt.........

For some reason these halogen lights dont show the defects that well on my color paint. i have the interlagos metallic blue or "blau" as they say.

Go to google and type ...Tuesday Morning.....and look for a store near you. And look for a Brinkmann Maxfire Dual Xenon Spotlight. It should sell for under 25 bucks.

i will totally agree with "take your time with the blue pad". that is the step i am on right now, blue pad with nano. i have the roof, mirrors, hatch and rear bumper done, which is roughly about a third of the car i would say and it has taken me about 4 hours just to do those sections. like i was told by josh and dana, nano will take a while to breakdown with a blue pad, but it does remove anything left over from the sip and white pad.

I find that one of the hardest things to learn is how long it takes the SIP and nano to break down and the amount of product too use

oh yeah for sure. on a new pad, i put a little extra and i am sure i spread it on the car to get the polish on the whole pad, then i just used 4 pea-sized dots for the rest of the car. just like i was told. i found if you go back/forth twice then up/down twice on a 2x2 area, moving about 1"/sec, it just starts to dust a very little bit and then i stop. I am working in a garage that is a little colder that what most work in though.

Thanks for the kind words Jamores23 and your are welcome for the help. Looks like Angelo got you guys handled in this one. Jamores23 I would pick up some M105 and true wool pads. Also the white Kompressor pad works great with M105. I am doing a red truck right now and wool and M105 is the only thing cutting the rain spots and slight oxidation.

Great information on the use of the new pad with M105 , Thanks for the tip Dana..............
