As I was working on the hood earlier today (was my second time working with a PC), I noticed a white powder immediately after turning the PC on. Is that clear coat or the M105/M205 combo turns into powder as soon as one starts working with it?

Thanks

I get that sometimes as well. Nothing to be concerned about. For me it goes away after like two sections. I believe it is left over residue from the previous buffing, atlest that is what makes the most sense to me.

Try some pad conditioner or it could be that you didn't clean your pad properly! Doubt it's clear coat tho!

M105 can dust up pretty fast, try misting it with water. I can assure you that the clear coat wont turn into white dust ;)

Thanks.

Another question... I was doing 6 M105 passes for each section and following with 6 M205 passes, which ended up removing almost all swirls on the hood. There are still a few here and there though. So, how many more can I safely do before going through the clear coat? It's a 4-month old Acura MDX that had no work done to it prior to this.

There is no definite answer without using a paint meter. But im sure there is still enough workable clear. If its a daily driver, I would just do as best you can and be happy with it

Thanks.

What's the best way to get rid of this dust besides washing after every section?
