Alright boys and girls...now that the sale is up, I'm VERY tempted to pick up a Flex. I currently use a PC3424XP but want something that can get the job done ALOT quicker than with my PC. I'm still somewhat of a noob and have never used a rotary before, but what I plan to do is go to the junk yard and pick up a couple of panels so I can practice on it. I would like to be able to make detailing a side/weekend gig, but I have a hard time being able to do that with the PC.

So my question is...which Flex, if I do get one...should I get...the 3401 or the PE14?

Here's a follow-up question...I know the 3401 is a DA but will it get the job done faster than a PC?

I would pick the PE14. You already have a PC and using the microfiber system on the D/A will achieve results quickly. I have a 3401 and I don't use it as much ever since the MF system came out.

I'm so tempted to pick up the PE14 right now...

Thanks for the response Mark...I'm leaning more toward the PE14.

My vote goes to Griot's Garage 6" ROP if you're buying another DA or the DeWalt DWP849X if you're buying a rotary. It's a night and day difference between the PC XP and the Griot's. However, the 3401 is sort of a hybrid between the 2 and may be what you need before jumping straight on a rotary. Only you know your skill set. Best of luck to you though! :)

Yeaaa; i just did the VIP...Good thing I got a buyer for the PC

Yes.

If you don't have a rotary this might be the time to invest in one especially at these prices and free shipping..... Flex PE14-2-150

I didn't even think about the MF system. I tried it out once and didn't pick it back up. So would you say I should just use the MF system instead?

Oh and by the way...its a PC7424...I think my thoughts ran together when I said 3424

LOL!!! I was in a rush to post since we got 5.5 hours left.

The MF system closed the gap between the traditional D/A and the rotary. It removes defects very quickly for a D/A. This was the original purpose of the Flex 3401 when it came out IMO. It closed the gap by removing the defects quicker via foam pads. I think that the MF system and the 3401 have the same purpose in trying to bridge that gap. The only difference is the polishing media. If you've already picked up the MF system and want to step up your game, I'd highly suggest picking up the PE14.

With the Club Flex Intro Kit!

I like my Flex 3401 and it's my primary dual action polisher for polishing.

My Porter Cable 7424 is a great machine and I now use it for applying sealants and waxes. I also use it for polishing with 4" pads.

If you really have your heart set on the 3401 then pull the trigger but a rotary should be in your future...

If I had the money right now I would for sure go PE15
