Gave Polycharger its maiden voyage this afternoon with 4* UPP. Prep'd with a rotary buff of swirl remover, followed by Meguiar's Paint Cleaner. I wanted to make sure I had a good, clean base so there would be no excuses for bonding. As for application and buff removal, I would have to say it acted just like normal UPP. Coverage and gloss....all like the usual. It was towards the end of the job that I noticed that the applicator pad was beginning to get a little sticky, so instead of tossing it, I decided to see what it would take to clean this thing. Since I was using UPP, the poly was CH2.
WELL.....I've never had a wax applicator that I couldn't clean with simple dishwashing soap, including UPP, but NOT this stuff. I threw every detergent I had on the shelf at it, and it just bounced off. Refusing to bow to the urge to grab up a bottle of the true solvents like mineral spirits, or heaven forbid, lacquer thinner, I forged ahead with the "soaps". Finally a straight shot of Greased Lightning Engine Cleaner got it to say "Uncle".....but just barely. Even then, I had to follow up with the strongest laundry detergent in the house. I gotta say that green liquid in that little bottle turned my seemingly docile UPP into something on steroids. If this resistance to detergents makes its way to the finished gloss, then I'd have to say somebody is onto something. We'll see if it's just as tough with the Az. sun.
