Any users here drive or know anything about this car. Any bad experiences good experiences. I am considering buying one that is a 2005 red g6 and has 40,000 miles. they are asking 9,900 for it. Any suggestions paint and body seem to be in excellent condition interior has no stains or markings looks like it was kept in great condition. It hasnt even been detailed by the lot so i saw as it came in to them.

I was a tech at pontiac for awhile, and the G6 isnt bad. It has typical GM issues like the radio, some suspension issues, and overall fit and finish of stuff isnt great. But honestly its not a bad car, car will be reliable if you keep up with maintenance. I think the early models had some major auto trans issues which have been resolved, so check your build date against any info you can find on the internet.

On the other hand, I really really hope your not considering a G6 convertible, I wouldnt wish that pile of crap on my worst enemy.

Not that I'm going to buy one but what's wrong with the convertible?

EVERYTHING having to do with the convertible top.

- The hydraulics are prone to failure, mainly the pump
- The elctrical system of the car is inadequate
- The top itself has more squeaks and rattles then any vehicle ive ever been in
- The operation of the power windows is ALWAYS interfering with the top operation
- The figment of the interior panels needs to be perfect, or else they also interfere with the top

Im sure theres more, these are all I can remember. Or maybe its care to remember, because mt service manager appointed me "G6 convertible Specialist" after I fixed one top one time. Gee thanks

I probably worked on about 10 or so, all of them experiencing some or all of these problems. It may have changed since I worked for GM, but GM provided almost zero support/parts/info about the power top system on the car.

Good info thanks. I know a guy that has a G6 and loves it. He wants to get the convertible next.

Well then I will say that it is possible for car models to fix there issues as time goes on. They were fairly new when I was working on them around the beginning of last year.

Look at the 7 series bmw, the first year or two were problematic nightmares, and they gotten a ton better.
