This is just a short post of my process to correct the paint of a Porsche Carrera in 3 steps. 2 rotary steps and 1 orbital step.
Here is what I started with.
There were no holograms or swirls but it was covered with halo-scratches or marring. Here is another picture.
My first step was an LC foam wool, Meguairs 105 and a rotary at 1100 rpm's. This then produced these results.
Personally what I look for is the majority of marring to be gone and in their place some swirls or holograms. They should be rather uniform, like the ones you can see in the lower portion of the quarter panel.
Satisfied with the wool step I placed on an LC OEM white pad and buffed the paint with the new Optimum Polish. This step gave me these results.
They are hard to see but I am left with much finer swirls after this step. The scratches are much closer together, which is what I mean by finer. I call them "wispy" as they remind me of real fine, wispy clouds.....yea rather geeky but then again so am I
So now I reach for my Flex and a finishing pad with Ultrafina. This step I take my time and really work in the polish very well. This step leaves me with a ready to seal finish.
I Opti-Sealed the paint after this and then used Joe Juice to wipe up any excess product.
The whole car took about 3 hours as we saved a great deal of time because the whole front end was fully wrapped in 3M clear bra.
When you find the right pad/product combo any car should move along like clock work. Many times though finding that right combo can take just as long as actually doing the paint correction!
Sorry, no full after pictures. Had to get the car back to its owner as time was running out.
