This weekend I got a chance to take care of a friend of a friend's Porsche Cayman. The car had its fair share of swirls and small blemishes, but overall it really wasn't too bad.

The car was washed with Duragloss car wash concentrate and decontaminated with Iron X and a Nanoskin Autoscrub mitt. Wheels were cleaned with Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner and Speed Master brushes.

I used the following for the correction/coating:
Flex 3401
Griot's Garage polisher with 3 inch backing plate
Harbor Freight 2" sander/polisher (Buff Daddy 2" pads)
Optimum Hyper Compound
Optimum Hyper Polish
Lake Country Hybrid Power Finish foam pads (orange and white)
Lake Country Hydro-Tech foam pads (cyan)
CarPro Eraser
CarPro CQuartz ceramic coating (paint)
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Coating (wheels/glass)
Meguiar’s D170 Hyper Dressing (tires)

I didn't take too many pictures of the correction process, but I managed to get some nice close ups after polishing.

After coating:

I usually don't take any pictures until after the coating has been wiped. It's too easy to get distracted and forget about the waiting time between panels.

That's all I got. I've got a new DSLR coming in soon so hopefully my future posts have better photos. Thanks for looking!

wow that white came out really good. how did you get in between the porsche letters? did you do it by hand?

I never thought white can be so radiant, angelic work worthy of Porsche Museum exhibition.

Amazing job that white looks excellent :)

I've always wondered this too. People that use DA's or rotaries...do you just correct and polish the parts where a machine cant go by hand? I'm guessing so but people generally dont explain that in their posts.

Thanks everyone!

I probably should have included some info on that in the original post. I actually managed to get my Harbor Freight 2 inch sander/polisher in between since the throw is so small. I used 2 inch pads from Buff Daddy.

Some areas I did have to do by hand with a microfiber towel and a little bit of product. I usually saturate a small spot on my towel with product so that I don't get product stuck in between the lettering. It takes a lot of time using firm pressure and rubbing in straight passes. Towards the end I'll reduce my pressure, wipe clean, and inspect my results. Usually I'll have to go back a few times to get decent results. Sometimes you can't get every little defect out by hand, but at least you can reduce them. That panel took me a little over an hour to complete just because of the lettering. I also did some hand polishing on the inner edges of the side view mirrors, bumper vents, and front emblem.
