What are you mobile detailers using for power....Gas powered inverters?

Honda has a 1300 thats looks good..$2200.00 .......

I just use that power that is already there. Its a nice little invention called the extension cord. They only cost like 40$ too;) I have a 12 gauge 50' ft extention cord with a head capable of powering 3 devices, it is heavy duty enough to power a 1200watt halogen and a 6amp DA.

This is in a area where its an open lot......with no electric in sight....a auto rental company parking lot with over 150 cars.....
 
Bill...I bought a generator 4 years ago..it was back up if we loose power in the winter...well I use it during the summer to work up in the woods...its a 4500 watt and I got it at pep boys...and it runs like a champ...my buddy seen it and does framing of houses ..he bought one and he has run it 3 years now daily and not single problem..just oil and plug changes...

Price was around 350.00

id just get a couple of 1000' extension cables :p just cant imagine when you have to roll thme up :)

I've had 3 generators over the past 12 years. All were inexpensive. Current on is the 2500 yellow one from Pepboys and other place for around $250. Been using it for over a year now and very pleased. Although a few Hondas I've heard are a little quieter this one has been my quietest yet. I use a 700 watt inverter for my PC when I'm going to be running it for extended periods of time. I am thinking about getting a 1500watt inverter though which would power all of my equipment (individually). Sams club has one for $109.
 
I use a 4000 watt generator, not sure on brand name, but it has a briggs & stratton engine. I run an air compressor, 3-stage vac system, my cyclo, udm and hot water heater off it. not all at the same time, but it has enough power for what i need

Honda's have some of the best engines!!! but you ovbiously pay for it.... again look for something that has briggs or techumse engine.

My 700 watt inverter won't power anything but my PC. It will run my vacuum (slowed some) which is 9amp. A 1500 watt though would run any of my equipment (9amp vac, 13amp steamer, 1000watt heater, PC or Rotary). My generator will run any two pieces of my equipment. I used the steamer and vacuum together a lot and in the winter I have 2 of the 1000watt heater that I use to heat my water. I've had pretty good luck with cheap generators. My first one was 299 and lasted me for around 7 years. The engine still ran but the alternator or whatever it is stopped putting out much power. My next one ran for 3 or 4 years (traded some washes for it) but it was 5000 watts and too big and loud so I bought the one I have now to save space and quiet things down.

Thanks....1500 may be the one i need......i may need a charger inverter i can charge at the shop and take it on the road after charging.....:)

A:confused: P.C. for sure , but a rotary may need 1500........i believe:confused:

Possibly. I think my vacuum is 9amp and my Rotary about the same. That would put it over 1000watts but the amps aren't going to be continuous so the watts used would probably be less. The actual watts used during operation is what will matter not the amp rating on the tool. For instance I can run my 9amp vacuum and my 13amp steamer on my 2500 watt generator and they run just fine. At any given time both are probably drawing much less than their amp ratings. Now when I plug my 2 1000 watt heaters in they run fine but I can hear the generator working harder than it does on the vac/steamer. On 1000watt inverter I'd expect the PC to run no problems, the rotary would probably run fine unless you cranked it all the way up, the vacuum I think would run a little slower than normal. I've noticed some thing run a little different one an inverter or generator than they do on the household current. Never understood why. When I had my 11amp vacuum and a 5000 watt generator I could tell it was a little slower than on my household current.

Also look online for calculator on how much time you can run a given tool on your current battery. I have a normal battery and can run my pc for 30-60minutes without running the vehicle. A vacuum would probably be fine if you were just running it for 10-15minutes. Something like a rotary that you would traditionally be using for a longer time period would no doubt require you to run the vehicle at times or use a deep cell battery with higher output. Deep cell battery will give you longer running time.
