Porter Cable Swirl Removal Tips

I finally caved and ordered a Porter Cable / Wolfgang swirl removal kit. Tired of trying to hide the swirls so this will be my first attempt at removing them. I've read just about every article and video posted on the forums by Mike Phillips and I couldn't seem to dig up anything on the edges of body panels. I have a good idea on how to attack the larger body panels like the roof, hood, doors, and trunk lid. I havn't seen any write ups specifically looking at corners and awkward body lines and how to remove swirls from them. In particular I was wondering how I should attack the areas shown below. It would be a bummer to get all the large panels looking great and have all the edges stick out. Any suggestions, pics, articles, or vids I missed? Can areas like that be done by hand? For small areas like those on a DA, I just use the edge of the pad.
 
Do you ever have trouble with product slinging all over the place when using the edge of the pad? From the portion of the pad not in contact with the vehicle.
 
Not really, I just apply a little product on the edge of the pad. I have had a little sling before, but I'd rather clean the sling up than work those areas by hand.

Although, now that I have two DAs I've been using one as a dedicated 3" machine, so I just use that.
 
First good choice on buying the pc :xyxthumbs: and for spots like your asking about well your going to find many areas that are to tight/odd shaped :'( you can only do so much by machine and sometimes you gotta go old school by "hand"?? But as mentioned you can CAREFULLY use the edge of your pads or go the smaller pad size route? I used this one over the summer MICRO BUFFING/POLISHING KIT Stock # 85-938 and there perfect for doing headlights ect :dblthumb2:
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to see how far I can get with the PC first. That micro buffing kit looks nice, don't think I have the skills or patience to work by hand. Anyone ever use the smaller PC backing plates and pads?
