So I was on an old car site I used to be a regular on and saw that an old buddy just picked up a new DD, a Ford Cougar and on a whim I said I could come over and help out with the paint correction and he then posted he could have about 10 people over and host a little event. I will also say he's a member here on AG but don't wanna speak for him and go ahead and set something up inadvance, but will let him know about this thread for sure. His location is Dekalb Illinois and I've been here for a little over 4 years and have never been out there but I'm ok with a little bit of a drive. He said he's got a 2 car garage and a canopy as well. With him getting this old Cougar we'd have a car to work on as well, don't think he'd mind us working on it but again, I'll let him chime in.

Now if we've got anyone else with the room or desire to host an event, please chime in and let us know because its been too long since our last get together and since so many new products have come out it would be good to see them in action, not to mention get to put a name with a face, do some trades, pass out some samples, get to see products in action BEFORE you buy them, etc. I should also say our last meet was a success as we had people show up from out of state, drive from a good distance away and locals, good mix and good guys, thanks again to Ivan for hosting our event.

With all the noobs to AG that are from or near the greater Chicagoland area this should make for a great meet and remember, we all know each other from the forum, not so much inperson, so no need to be shy, especially if your a noob and wanna see how a rinseless wash works for example, bring a dirty car and you'll get a free carwash at the very least:dblthumb2:

I'd be happy to help out and provide my spot for the get together - It's located in Woodstock, IL just off RT 14

Here's a few pics of my spot

Shoot me a PM and we can discuss the particulars.

Jeff

I think this is a great idea, wish I could sneak up and join you guys, especially since you will not be having this lovely weather you are getting now!

I've been waiting for a thread like this. I think I joined after the last detail day. I'm a rookie and would love to get some help from the pros.

Ok, I'm the one Klasse Act is talking about. I'm happy to host a meet. As stated I have 2 garage spots, a 10x20 canopy and room for probably 10+ cars (I've got to measure the one drive) now at our new digs (that's all driveway, more of course on the street). I'm happy to host anyone at anytime.

As stated I'm out near Dekalb, about 20 minutes south on Hwy 23.

Yes, just purchased a 99 Cougar that can be a guinea pig for newbs at detailing or anyone just looking to try some new goodies.

Meghan come on up! We should be back in the 30's come spring.

Today is fine, not much happening in Indy today.

Head on out. I can't guaruntee your car will make it in one piece.

Tess had to use the Cougar as a snow plow last night, so she's now missing half the front bumper and a fog light :( Talk about taking the term beater car literally! It'll buff out right?:buffing:

Sorry about the quality it was freezing and I was using my phone.

And yes, you're seeing that correctly, haven't even gotten regular plates for it yet! I might actually be mad if the car had cost more than $700.

I am down as well (Addison,IL)

Yeah, the Cougar is simply a DD to keep miles off my SVT and get better mileage than the van. We're wondering what would have happened if she had been in the van, higher clearance, but it doesn't handle as well and gets caught by the wind, she may have ended up in the ditch and injured vs. us just loosing a bumper.

Another attending from Addison!!

Just a word of wisdom guys. When your wife comes home with the car looking like that, the first words out of your mouth better be "OMG! I'm so glad you made it home safely!", not ### HAPPENED TO THE CAR!

First time in 12 yrs she was so mad she slept in a different room.

LMAO! Thanks for the tip!!!!

That's a very nice looking shop for sure, even comes stocked with bagels and donuts, LOL! Woodstock is another area of Chicagoland I've not been to yet, so even though your offer is nice and also VERY generous Dave, I think we should take Jeff up on this a make a day of it.

Now Jeff, this will be some monthes away, obviously but what weekend day works best for you? I see alot of car covers and although we're a detailing forum a car meet might break out and with the diversity of our group, we'll have regular DD's, like mine for instance and God knows what else is going to show up. Could I put out an APB for a 1967 Goodwood green 67' Corvette coupe......PLEASE!

Looks like we've got some good interest already and I'm glad, make this record breaking day of cold something to put behind us and now look forward to this meet, I can't wait. At some point we could make a list of what we've got in our collection and what another member might wanna try out and make that happen. Also, I was hoping for a group detail of a "needy" car last time but that really didn't happen for some reason. I see Mike and his crew do a paint correction/protection on a car, why don't we do something like that, I'm sure we've got the products, effort and knowledge to do something for someone, right guys, a way to "pay it forward" for sure!

Oh yeah, here's a little way for us to get to know each other, sharing a couple pics of our rides:
