Post count importance ?

Post count means nothing if the individual doesn't say anything worthwhile.

There is a guy on a music forum I used to visit that has almost 100,000 posts. He's one of the biggest dopes on the planet!
 
Not really a factor to me as well.

I DO get bothered by people who only criticize. I don't care if you were born to detail, many members are hobbyists and learning the correct techniques and products to use for specific situations.

These forums only work when people express opinions (good or bad) without personally attacking others.
 
I usually look at the content and who it's from. I have a number of posts, but don't give a lot of advice because there are many people here who know so much more than me.

I'm just happy the rest of you put up with me, lol.
 
I don't think post count matters. I find it annoying on some forums where it seems people are just trying to drive up their count. Everybody knows what matters most is how cool your avatar is! It should be like the headlight of an old car or something like that. :D
 
Kevin Brown only has a small number of posts, currently 164 but I think it would be wise to give his thoughts greater consideration than some others

On the other hand you do get some who join a forum with the question about the difference between a wax and a polish (not a bad question) but within 3 days they have 800 posts and are now experts.
 
Post Counts are merely an indicator of the members dedication to that forum.

Responses to questions also give the reader a sense of comfort or discomfort depending on its content. The thoroughness of the threads topic or posts is yet another knowledge or experience gauge.

A member search will also give you some insight as to the type and detail of his contributions.

Like everything else on the internet there's no guarantee but post counts is typically a decent indicator to go by...
 
Measuring value based on post count is just not going to get you very far at all. <sarcasm> maybe we should put our yearly income underneath that number too? Nah, that won't help either. :-)

Seriously, it's content and dependability that matters most and all that knowledge on a particular person comes with time and careful reading. If you have a mindset where something can be learned from every member of the AG community then post count will rarely be a factor when you consider member feedback and ultimately decide what you want to use (and how).
 
Post count is irrelevant, specially when people here post things like "welcome to AGO" and posts with jokes and such... Irrelevant posts that don't help at all.


Reading the message and advices is all you need to tell if a person knows his stuff or not.


This thread here is a good example why post count means jack sh*t.
- A guy with a very low post count asked for help with some very specific problems.
- Some guys here with very a very high post count bashed the guy and never really offered any help with any of his questions.. (ok, maybe one or two guys did help)
- The guy posted his results and shut everyone up...

That was the day I lost respect for some members here with 7k posts, not worth mentioning names...
 
Great example bmwgalore of you can't always judge a book by it's cover. A lot of crow was served in the OP's Click n Brag. I think it's just human nature to have certain clicks on internet forums the same as kids in high school or other social gatherings. Content is what I look at in any post and try and reply to those of which I might be able to contribute.I have never liked a reply that starts off with "I have never used this product but I heard"etc. But this is the world wide net and you have to put up with a little bs to enjoy the good stuff as they say. I can honestly say that over the years I have been able to vastly increase my detailing knowledge and meet a ton of great people on the various detailing forums I frequent. So now I'll get off the soapbox and quit twisting everyones ears.
