Cleaned with Bilt Hamber surfex and some small brushes, dressed with CG new look trim gel.

This is pretty much how I do it for newer cars, but you still want to avoid spraying water directly on the alternator, electronics, etc. but a light rinse is fine. Let the cleaner do the work.

So many good choices on AG. I like 303 Aerospace, Carpro PERL at 1:1 or 1:3 and my favorite might be 1z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant. Would like to try this one: Corrosion Technologies Shine & Shield 16 oz.

How many of you guys prefer all the plastic covers they put over everything in the engine compartments on newer cars? I guess they figured, people aren't going to clean 'em so might as well hide the grime under some plastic covers.

Personally, I like to see all the mechanical stuff and all the hoses and wires. It's a lot more work to keep clean, but looks nice when clean. I've also noticed that many new cars don't even provide dipsticks anymore.

I like it both ways. My two cars are the old style and like you I like seeing everything but my Mom's G37x has the plastic and it cleans up much easier and gives a clean look.


BTW Swanic your BMW engine compartment is SICK!!

I typically don't cover anything either, but I am careful not to aim my hose directly into the plugs, alternator, battery, etc. If you feel more comfortable, you can cover those things up and then just wipe them down with a microfiber towel.
