Post your Everyday Carry

I could never figure out why anyone would want to forewarn someone that might bear them ill will so they could prepare accordingly. I'd rather have a bad guy approach me head on so I can deal with it than have them sneak up behind me with a tap to the gourd with a Louisville Slugger if they know I'm armed.

That is the one of the biggest arguments pro gun organizations make, their theory is that if a "bad man" thinks you may be armed inside your house, he is less likely to come into your house and risk his life.

There is also a second side or thought process on your example, if your sneaky bat wielding monkey doesn't think you are armed, he may jump you because you are an easy target, baseball bat versus person, odds are in the baseball bats favor. If that same monkey knows you are armed with a firearm, he still has a chance if he can surprise and draw first blood but now he might consider that there is a number of ways that your hollow point trumps his tree branch.

Open carry is generally going to be an easier draw if you are rushed because your not going to have clothes to snag the firearm on. However, I do agree that concealed carry is the way to go. It makes it harder for a person to try and draw your weapon if they even know you have it and many people are made uneasy by armed people...

:iagree:

unless you have extensive training in hand to hand combat, and know 'how to protect' your gun in a hand to hand confrontation, i would not advise to open carry... it makes it to easy for the bad guy to throw a round house, and remove your weapon from it's holster... On the other hand, that's my opion, and you have the right to open carry. :xyxthumbs:

I, too, agree with your logic here.

I can't legally carry this most of the time but it usually is very near me. Smith and Wesson "Sigma" .380

Do any of you watch sons of guns (I think that's the right one) where it's at Gunsmoke and run by the family?

As Christmas gets closer the bad guys are stepping up their break ins and assaults to in turn I take it up a notch. :D

I think you are referring to American Guns, which owns Gunsmoke firearms in Colorado. Sons of Guns - Their shop is in Louisiana ( I believe Jefferson Parrish) and is call Red Jacket.

Straight down to business BobbyG, I like it!

Then I mean american guns because I'm not a fan of Red Jacket, they don't hand make their guns

Sometimes I think you guys live in a different country than I do.

I do live in a different country ( Canada ) and here I never saw someone who carry a gun/knife or whatever "weapon" for "protection". I just don't understand why I should carry one..

No one is forcing you to.

I know, but I didn't realize until now that is was that normal/common to carry a gun in the USA.

It really depends on the state. Some states are very strict and some aren't. Here in Florida it is very easy to get a concealed weapons permit.

I would guess that the vast majority of people in the US don't carry a gun. This forum doesn't represnet much of the US population at all.

Hey Bobby, when I was in the Army I carried the M16, and the M203 Grenade Launcher. That was some serious firepower!!!

I carry a baby glock 40 cal. When people ask me why I carry a gun I tell them because I can't carry a cop

It is definitely not the norm for people to carry guns, I would say less than 10% of the civilian population that own a gun(s) carry one on a regular basis.

Regarding the many people here that do, maybe it has something to do with really loving your car and the constant paranoia that someone is going to try to hurt it or take it from you?

I wish you could carry in MD. I really dont understand why you can in some states but not others. Not like criminals are going to go out and get permits anyway. Seems to me it a way for the average Joe to protect himself from the "packing" criminals. Im sure it would make those goofs thing twice before they car jack someone!
