Powder coating brake calipers

Thinking about buying new calipers and getting them powder coated...advantages/disadvantages? I also live in northwest Pennsylvania where our winters can be pretty brutal, snow, ice and lots of road salt. I was wondering how it would hold up in these conditions bc regular brake caliper paint chips easily and then its only a year or 2 before 75% of the paint is gone and they look like crap

Powder coating is very durable. I've had the calipers on my Trans Am coated for many years (maybe 7?) and they still look as good as the day I had them done. It's pretty thick and if the part is prepped correctly it will hold up very well. I've had a ton of parts powder coated on my car

Be sure to pull the pistons and seals before you do. Reinstall after the coating.

When I powder coated my calipers I washed them in solvent, bead blasted them, washed them with acetone, then applied the powder. I made sure that the piston bores and nipple holes were protected before the bead blasting and powder coating. I found that the heat proof tape sold along with the powders was perfect for protecting both areas.

And I live along the California coast so the car sees a lot of corrosive humidity. They still look new years later.

I used the Eastwood Powder Coating Gun and powder from Rosies. For baking I used a free curb oven. 220V
