I HAVE found a solution for something like this though; It won't be able to directly prevent chips as well as tape can, but think of it as a temporary second clear coat...
Look for Wolf's Chemicals The Mask. I have 7 bottles of that stuff and I use it all the time since I regularly make 400km round trips every weekend. It sprays on thick, dries thin and hard. Just as hard as clear coat, and apparently adds around 80 microns? So great for scratch/chip protection, but not prevention. And when you want it off, just spray it with a hose (don't need a PW, just reg water). Great for if you go through areas with mad amounts of bugs too; makes cleaning a breeze.
Though it does damage LSPs abit but whatever, NO CHIPS!
So I'm definitely happy with this stuff.
But the tape is definitely a good idea for those who want ABSOLUTELY NO CHIPS with no clear bra! haha
