Well I was looking for a wax that I can apply quickly and move on to the next vehicle I have booked. I was looking at various products when I found Optimum Car Wax 17 oz.
From AG site

"Optimum is the first and only wax that contains UVA and UVB absorbers to shield your paint from all the sun’s harmful rays. The formula combines high-grade carnauba wax and sealant polymers to give you outstanding shine and protection."

Well I have to say after the vehicle was washed it took me about 5 minutes to wax the vehicle. Simply spray on and wipe off. For a spray wax it left a beautiful shine and left the surface pretty slick as well. So far the product is doing what it claims to do. Now the bottle also say, "Paint has a beautiful, wet shine and is protected from the sun, acid rain, and pollution for up to 5 months!"

The vehicle I applied it to sleeps in the garage but is outside all day when the car is at work and South Florida is the perfect testing ground to see how long the wax will last since it hot and rains almost every after noon now.

Now for the pictures:

Nice Shawn, the key words "up to 5 months" doubt if you will get 5 months in Florida during the summer.

The product is easy to use and rather durable for a spray product. Dr G just knows how to produce good value related products. Now if only he offered a traditional estate type paste wax.

Im hoping for 1-2 months in florida heat because that what i get out of normal waxes. If I can get the same out of this spray wax. I can cut my wash and waxing time, into wash plus 5 extra minutes lol.

I posted a review here a few months ago about OCW. I was using it as my LSP wax for awhile until I realized that in less than 1 month the beading properties disappeared. It's a very easy wax to use and is very slick and glossy but seeing water pooled up all over my roof and hood led me to quickly change back to another product.

As long as i get one month I can use it in my "basic" wash+wax and then charge extra for paste wax and sealant :)

5 months for a spray wax is too bold of a claim IMO.

I love this stuff!! It seems to brighten the paint also.

OCW is a nice product, but mine last as long as other brand spray wax, but off course my car sits almost 24h outside

OCW is definetly a great product. The good doctor also told me that this can be layered quite well and produce quite the shine!

I just don't see the "nuba" side of it acts alot more like a spray sealent to me looks real nice on light color cars but lacks depth and wetness. We all know Beading does not = protection per se... but whos going to risk it? :) just my 2 cents..

That all said I do have it in my line up for express situations :)

If you want to see the "nuba" side give it a try on black paint. Afterwards, tape off a small section and give it an IPA wipe down and remove the tape and you'll see it. :xyxthumbs:

OCW darkens the paint and gives it a nice glow at the same time.

I like Optimum Car Wax and next to general detail spray it's almost as easy to use. The first time I tried it I said; "It can't be this easy" but it was. I had a gallon of the stuff delivered on Thursday so I'm set for a while. :props:

Thanks I might have to try this out!

I have never seen OCW darken paint. It seems to make white, yellow and silver super bright.

Nice job Shawn. :xyxthumbs: I hope you don't mind a little support for your great experience.

I really like the Opt Car Wax and it's become my go to wax for keeping up a finish since it takes 10 minutes to do a car. I've used the OCW on 4 cars now.
  1. Over WG DGPS 3.0 on BMW artic white
    • My white bimmer is garaged, beads nicely, is absolutely slick and still brings an amazed look to my face after nearly 2 months. The car looks amazing even dirty to normal people (OCD not included of course).
    • I finally applied OPT IDGE this weekend over it during the drying step as a extra lubricant and BLING...
    • Awesome on white
  2. Over DGPS on BMW metallic champagne biege
    • My wife's champagne bimmer is over a month out, garaged and is beading nicely.
  3. Directly onto Mercedes dark metallic grey
    • The Mercedes is going on 2 months, is garaged, beads and maintains a glass-like mirror finish.
  4. Directly onto Nissan Maxima silver metallic.
    • The Nissan still looks good after over a month outdoors full time. I plan to rewash and check my FIL's car this weekend.
    • The Nissan's metallic fleck pops
Each car was clayed and polished before using a sealant or the OCW so do the up front work to get the best shine. I finally took Matt's and a bunch of other Autogeek forum member's recommendations and ordered Fuzion BOGO. Give me a few weeks to get the product in and try it as a topper over the DGPS on the white bimmer or the champagne bimmer.

To all dad's, Happy Father's Day! Aren't we the lucky ones!

That's what I do. But i use Four star's spray wax w/Polycharger ( i love this spray wax, i love SCG Speed Demon too for sealing wheels) . I did get a 4oz sample of OCW with my order from last week, so i'll try it on my next wash and wax only detail.:props:

Here are some pics of OCW's darkening effect and filling capabilities. I gave the hood an IPA(70%) wipe down put a line of tape down the middle and applied OCW to the right side.

Looks like you need to bust out the buffer.
