Pre Wax Cleaner recommendations

Hello,

Here is what I need to do, simply remove whatever wax or sealant I currently have on the surface of my paint. Lets assume the car is polished, so no polishing abrasives are needed. I want to get back down to the unprotected paint surface to reseal, glaze, or wax.

My question is, am I better off using a product like Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion (or something similar) or some sort of wash solution with a dishwashing soap or IPA mixture?

Seems buying a product specifically for this purpose might actually be the easiest in the long run and I wont risk stripping protectants off of other parts of the car due to runoff of wash solutioms. Do I have the right line of thinking? Other than Pinnacle, any other cleanser recommendations?

Pinnacle is a good choice.
P21S paintwork Cleansing lotion also works really nice.
Auto Finesse Rejuvenate is my favorite because it is just sooooo easy to use and wipes off like a dream.

I agree with you thought process as far as a paintwork cleanser and they also can remove imbedded grime that some strong shampoos just can not remove.

That is an excellent article indeed, and very appropriate to the question asked.

The only pre-wax cleaner I've used is Klasse All-In-One, and I am very happy with it. I'd recommend it in this case as it has no abrasives - Just a chemical cleaner which does an excellent job.

In my mind, if I didn't need to clay the paint then I would jump right to the pre-wax cleaner; maybe moreso if I was just touching-up a section. If you do need to clay the paint then a wash-strip solution would be used, then clay, then pre-wax cleaner or polish depending on the condition of the paint.
 
P21S is pretty good. But I believe it has fillers/clay in it and this may not be optimal if your topping it with a sealant. My method is a wash with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss 1 ounce to 1 gallon and then Griots Paint Prep on each panel while wet. This kills any beading. Forget Dawn, as there are several posts stating it just doesn't kill all the beading.
 
I like the liquids if paint is polished.

Carpro Eraser or Griot's Paint Prep.
 
I think I need to try these, I just tried using CG cirtus wash n gloss at 4oz in 1 gallon of water to strip Carpro reload and its still beading like crazzy washed twice this way
