Hey guys I thought this would be interesting. I don't have a particular loyalty but I usually look for lightweight, sharp handling cars. What do you guys think? Is there a brand that's easiest to detail? Let's make this an interesting thread! :xyxthumbs:

Attached is my personal garage queen. Mia the miata was my first car and I hope to pass her down to my kids one day

You didn't really come out and say
what auto manufacturer you think
is the "BEST auto manufacturer".

Care to share? TIA.

I really have respect for all manufacturers and their cars that I find impressive. Toyota supra, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford GT350, Mazda miata, etc

I am currently driving my "realistic" dream car. 2015 Lexus IS350 AWD F Sport. Not saying it's the "best" by no means. But it is perfect for me. Exhilarating to drive yet luxurious. Can fit my kids in the back, and AWD for Wisconsin winters. I've owned a lot of German cars previously and had issues with all of them. Lexus/Toyota is one of the best for reliability.

Everyone has different likes and wants. I respect what others like and drive.

Enjoy the weekend!

The vehicle of my dreams is still under development.

I want a THOR RV conversion built on the not yet developed Mercedes Sprinter chassis with class 5 autonomous driving.

I want to be able to set my destination, get up from the drivers seat, go into the back and make a sandwich, use the bathroom, then go way into the back and take a nap until after it has driven me out of the boring, miserable drive up HWY 5 until I get to 80.

The brand that is easiest to detail is the brand with the least amount of trim, badging, nooks and crannies, and chrome.

I own a 14' focus and an 03' mustang gt. A bit bias towards muscle cars/drag racing since its what I grew up around. but tbh I want a bmw, audi or benz sooo bad. The germans just understand how to style a car and do interiors so well.

This looks pretty much like a
cut'n'dry to me:

If I had, oh say a spare $300,000 hanging around... I would listen to this guy (leaning against the Audi R18 which he was invited to track at Laguna Seca by Audi):

As raved he raved about this car after pulling a 1:2x something at Laguna Seca.

In all seriousness, I think cars have come a long way since the 50's, 60's, the 70's & early 80's which gave us the he "Malaise Era", the decade from 1973 to 1983, when it seems as if American manufacturers gave up... and lastly the boxes of mid-to late 80's, followed by the bubble era of the 90's. Poor quality, no options, poor safety, no technology...

Suddenly we're engulfed in great designs, even on cheap cars, packed with safety and technology, moreover, horse power wars..

Most manufacturers today win at everything from design, quality, power, technology, and one such car company is Tesla. Elon Musk didn't invent the electric car, he revolutionized the electric car. The Model S, the Model X (which I got to sit in last week) and the Model 3 are examples of where we are today with technology and innovation. Insane amounts of torque, power and comfort. Handling, stability and technology. Self driving, doors self open when FOB aware and self close. The company can push updates to the car much like an iPhone or Android, enabling new features and technology.

And at the same time Elon is doing this, he's docking an unmanned Space-X capsule to the International Space Station to deliver supplies and re-lands the rockets on the Space-X pad in the ocean for use later.

For all of that, my vote and hat gets tipped to Tesla.

I honestly could see myself in a Model 3. But I'd still have to have my Honda Fit for my Greyhounds! :)

Buzz kill post, but I have, and always will have Ram trucks.

But dream ride? Ok, a 766 HP Hellcat Challenger, or a '69 Hemi Chargrer.

Toyotas & Lexus for me. I would take a older super duty with the 7.3 diesel to pull the boat. If I had to go domestic I agree with PaulMys on the Hellcat Challanger. Lot of car for the $$$.

I'm a performance guy, so I like what Ford has been doing over the last few years: the Ford GT, GT350R, Focus RS and Raptor.

I have to admit I like the Tesla also, but I am so against self-driving cars. If I can't drive my car in 20 years for "safety reasons" I will find a gun and blow my brains out. Driving is fun. :) As for cars in general I love cars most of them. So I can't really say I have an all time favorite. The only cars I dislike are things like : The Smart car, anything like that is repulsive, the Nissan Cube is another one.

Got to drive my friends Bugatti. 1600 hp and a cool 2.7 $million. It's not a car. It's a jet on wheels. However it can be city driven which makes it a marvel of engineering.

I'm burdened with being an automotive manufacturing and design and development engineer.... It's a burden as you see so much more than most owners (good and bad), so the ownership experience is often a case of taking your car as Close to perfection as possible ie addressing every minute issue which may be construed as being away from design intent... Including paint condition...

So my perfect car has to handle, be engaging to drive, have enough character in daily use to maintain interest and have a naughty side when you push on... Ie handling and drivetrain performance at its limit.. It should also be exceptionally constructed with high quality materials and technology that is beneficial and well executed... And it's design must pull on the heart strings.... And finally it must have either no orange peel or enough paint that any peel can be resolved....

My current car is close but the fact I have stripped and rebuilt the interior, added extensive sound deadening materials, wet sanded the whole car, modified the engine and trans ecu's and tweaked the exhaust system, with more to come means it's still some way off....

And "easy"!to detail doesn't bother me as much as "rewarding" to detail.. Ie the end result is worth the effort.....
