I have 2000 Dodge Durango with 120k on it. Looks and runs like 20k on it.

I'm looking to undercoat it with truck bed liner since it's more durable and tougher IMO.

I've seen abrasion wheels for a drill and was wondering if that's a good route to take on the frame rails as opposed to sandpaper?

Subscribed, I've never heard of this being done before.

My neighbor coated the undercarriage of his new sierra. I'll ask him what he did. I believe he just took it somewhere to be done before he took delivery.

I used "herculiner" bedliner on my '01 Wrangler. I did the whole inside tub and then the undercarriage.
Works great and it's more chip resistant than undercoating.

I just happened across the abrasion wheels in the paint section at autozone. I'm just assuming it would make the sanding a lot faster. I've never taken notice to them before

Best way to do it if that's what he did.
I'm just 12 years late lol :)

What sort of coating is on the frame rails? If it's anything like GM trucks it will have a waxy coating, not paint or powdercoat....

Not sure honestly. Here's some pics of the frame rail
