Well, since the rain and cold weather has gone away for about a week, I will be able to start working on vehicles left and right. This one is a 1992 BMW 850I that I posted on her almost a year ago. I finally talked the owner to sell this one, plus 2 others. Folks, my client has about 7 vehicles between himself and his wife. The BMW has over 116k miles on it. He has not driven the BMW in quite some time. I keep taking it to my friends body shop, if needed, to repair minor lil things. Everything on the BMW works and I'm detailing it so I could sell it for him.

Here are several before pictures of the BMW 850I :

BTW - His Jaguar XJS is sitting right next to it AND his '02 Lexus SC430 Neiman Marcus is right in front of it. Those two are next on the complete detail to be sold after the BMW is complete.

btw - If you can't tell, my client took the BMW to a local college for them to repaint the whole vehicle. BAD MISTAKE. I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but, if you saw the vehicle up close, you would be able to tell.

Here are pictures of the BMWs engine. Remember, this vehicle has over 116k miles on it and the BMW was 100% repainted.

btw - I would love to know what you would do to properly detail the passenger side engine block. The overspray stuff just will not come off.

What did you do with the exhaust tips?

Thanks Shane.

I have not done anything to the tips. I have something that I might spray on the tomorrow since I have to do the vehicles interior. I know I did not take pics of everything I did in the begining. I will take more pics tomorrow.

Since the BMW has been repainted in a very bad way, It's very hard to correct all the problems. Especially on the engine.

Look for more information, and pics, on Sunday. :props:

Careful; DO NOT drive that thing for an extended amount of time, or you may just fall in love with it and buy it yourself!

Seriously though, that is one of my favorite cars BMW ever built. An absolute PITA to work on, doesn't handle the best, not the most power or anything, but it just has such a 'unique' factor that you just gotta love. I vow to own an 850csi one day...

Good work!

Nice job! Great looking car! I like the interior and the V12.

That is cosmoline applied for protection during overseas transport. After baking on engine components and other places under the hood for years, it is not going to come off easily. The cosmoline was supposed to be cleaned off during new vehicle prep, but most dealers were lazy.

Most picky owners will clean and paint the affected aluminum parts during maintenance work, but it doesn't make any sense to take things apart unless the intake needs to come off to replace gaskets and other seals underneath.

Well, for some odd reason, my client never gets rid of vehicles he has purchased since the late '80s. None of the vehicles have been taken care of. If he wants to keep the BMW, then, he would have to spend over $20k to make it look right and I know he will not spend the money to do that. It's also like his '89 Jaguar XJS Convertible he has. I got him to repaint the whole car. Now, the Jag has less than 15k miles on it where the BMW has over 116k miles on it. The Jag I almost have to very prime looks. I just need to do something with all 4 of the wheels on the Jag. I want him to sell the BMW ASAP so they have one less vehicle to deal with since the BMW should sell quickly vs. the Jag.

That's beautiful SRHTX. How much is your client looking to sell it for? I know I'd be curious to know how much a car like that sells for. :D

Well, I do not know how much he wants to sell the BMW for. I advised him he needs to put it on the market for $13k. In fact, after I did the exterior yesterday, I took the BMW into the Saturday Night crowd and had one person ask me how much the owner would sell it for. I advised him that I did not know at this time. Gave the person one of my business cards to contact me down the road. This person was an adult, and his wife, who I know can afford the BMW.

Here is the twist to the story. On his '89 Jaguar XJS Convertable, with less than 15k miles, I know what he wants for it. Here is that car if you have not seen it on this forum:

DSCF0392.jpg

I keep sending him links to several different websites where people are selling thier Jags. His Jag does have the lowest amount of miles on it vs the others. They most people are asking for thier Jags is $19.8k with over 34k miles on it and THAT Jag is here in Texas. A '90 Jag with 43k miles is asking $17.5k miles. Another one is a '90 Jag with 18k miles on it who is asking almost $16k. My client is saying he wants $22k and I'm like, uh...... not. I've had him spend a nice amout of money to get the Jag in correct working order since it's always sat at his companies office.

We will just have to see.

Well, the owner really had no one take care of the leather inside the vehicle. I used plenty of Optimum Leather stuff in the vehicle. Still will not correct any of the probelms with the interior.

Oh. Since the floor mats are not dry, I did not put them inside the BMW. They will spend the night inside the garage and I will place them back inside the BMW on Monday.

Thanks Sparkie. I might get his Lexus SC 430 or the Jaguar XJS Convertable back tomorrow. Isn't life hard with about 7 vehicles. ugh...... he he he

I think I might talk to him about wet-sanding the whole BMW to correct all of the white paint from when the college body shop messed it up.

Well, the BMW is NOT DONE. We are going to correct some things on the engine, wheelwells and another thing or two. This is going to be a fun project. he he he....

Stay tuned. :xyxthumbs: More work will begine on the comming weekend unless I get bored and go outside and think of some more things for the BMW.

Nice work!

Still my favorite BMW of all time! (though I'd like one in red!) :props:

Looking good!
The 850i was so ahead of its time ........... still sexy!

It's a nice vehicle. I'm not sure where the owner of it has it located at right now. I have his Jaguar XJS and Lexus SC 430 infront of the house at this time. jlb85 (Jacob) advised me something about bringing leather back to life and I'm ordering some of it at this time. Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil is being ordered right now. That product will make the leather feel like new. Once that product arrives, I will be using it on all 3 of those vehicles. The Jag and BMW will love this product for sure.

I still have other work to do on the BMW. All on the engine itself.
