WOW. If you think Toyotas do not go into the wild/ranch area, you better think again. lol My client has a lil money with, well, was a large ranch. Over 3,000 acres. He now has over 600 acres with exotic animals on it. When my client is in town, this is what he drives. No paved road to the ranch. He has to drive about 5 miles to get to his place on dirt road.

Today, I've detailed the engine BUT, there was so much mud all under the FJ, I drove it to an automated car wash just to get the mud out from under it. It took me well over an hour to get the mud off the driveway after I cleaned the engine and wheel wells removing the mud.

Oh, if you know what the FJs look like, you will be able to tell he made some changes to it. 3 of the 5 tires, including the spare, are bad. The FJ just hit 15k miles. I took it by the Ford, Lincoln Mercury dealership, where my dad is one of the managers, to get prices on new HD Off Road Tires. Toyota, or the dealership who ordered it, just got the basic Dunlop tires.

On Sunday, I will wash, clay, compound and polish her. She will nice and clean until he gets back down here and drives to the ranch.

Nice job on the interior.

If you think that is dirty, you should see my Range Rover after hitting the mountains during the spring thaw.

??? he he.... I had not touched the interior yet. Those pictures were taken at the Ford Dealership. Just the pic of the FJ and the mud were at the house. 80% of the interior is done. More mud was another problem. There was a ton of mud on top of that back window. I had to open the back door AND open the back window up to use my HPW to get that mud off. Sunday morning, I will go out there and finish the interior. After that, I will wash and clay it

With that picture, you will not see any mud. I just did not have time to grab the camera to show everyone all the mud that was on top of the glass inside.

Take some pics of the Range Rover. Would love to see it. :props:

Is there going to be a Driveway Detailing thread after this one?

LOL.... It's loaded with mud. By Tue/Wed, we have another good chance for rain. I hope to be done with it tomorrow. I will take the long way out of the back alley if needed. he he. I do not think I really have to put dressing on the tires since it has to be driven back down a 5+ mile dirt road back to thier place unless they park it at the house in down down here in the Valley.

Doh!! I feel like an idiot now. The last three pictures looked like the interior was done. Even worse, I actually read the whole post and still jacked it up. I read this after work, and it was a long day. Sorry, Stephen.

On a side note, I LOVE the FJ Cruisers. I'd like to have one, but I'd really like to have an FJ40.

Yeah, 5+ miles of dirt road and tire dressing wouldn't end up too well. If you just want the finished look, dress the tires after getting it to the client's house.

No worries Colin. The passenger side AND the rear section really have not been used. I know someone has spilled coffee in the passenger front. Good thing I have a steamer. It cleans the interior of this vehicle very easily. :props:

Are you going to polish the top? If so, how will you get up there? Light?

Yes. I will do the top. The owner has scratches all over the FJ from brush all over the ranch/farm. I will take some pics of the set-up this afternoon. The canopy will not be over the vehicle.

Engine:

Amazing Roll-Off
Stoners More Shine

Interior:

Steamer (Ya just gotta have a steamer)
Megs APC+
Aerospace Protectant

For the engine, it was nice and easy. My only problem with it is that I have yet to wash the FJ. I’m sure the engine might get a lil dirty. It should not take long to clean it up.

For the interior, I only used 3 things – Steamer, Megs APC+ & Aerospace Protectant. The steamer was used on everything inside the FJ, even the headliner. I sprayed the Megs APC+ just before I started the steamer. After everything was nice and clean, I used some Aerospace Protectant to make it nice and shinier.

Now, here the the insides back end where IT had a major mud issue. All of that extra mud was at the top of the inside where the window connects. I got it nice and clean now.

a lot of dirt was on the car. congratz

Thanks. The bad news is, I will not be able to finish the exterior of the FJ since I have to return back to work and a cold front is bringing rain back on Tuesday. I will be able to finish the exterior on Thursday. ugh...

Finally. I'm off today (Thursday thru Sunday) so I can finally finish this lil SUV. Just hope the back two tires do not go flat like the spare has. Im the MAN

Nice job on the engine! I know this next line is cliched, but it looks literally brand new. Can't wait to see the exterior afters!

OK, someone enlighten me - I am not too familiar with the FJ's. I see a front push bar and a spot light...anything else?

Great job as always on the engine Stephen.

Thanks. I really could not do much to the FJ today. Wind was a BIT**!!! It was around 30mph. Tomorrow is not looking to hot either. The wind is suppose to be around 20mph or a lil less.

Living here, wind changes directions all the time. temps change all the time. This is one of the hardest areas to detail vehicles outside.
