Prices: to list or not to list?

I highly doubt the fact that you're booked for 3-4 weeks out has to do with website prices. There's many ways to over come price and to get customers in the door. One of many and the main reason is quality and reputation. It trumps everything else.

Thanks for the quote. Show's that you can't read. But i think i'm pretty decent in marketing. I pull way more revenue than you will dream of with your detail shop.

Hmm turned fun here. I don't think I would spend my time as a consumer calling places with no pricing listed anywhere..

Well, I've seen both end of this argument and settled on the fact that having a generic price list will help weed out the unrealistic expectations that some people have with some of the packages. Despite my listings I still get calls from people that want the "WORKS" or my "top end package" whose jaw hit the floor when I quote them my "top end" price even after explaining the steps and processes, and time involved (BEFORE giving them the quote).

I agree that the art of salesmanship can be made a little harder when someone has a pre-established budget in mind based on your pricing, but that is what separates the noobs from the veterans.

Your primary role as a detailer is to instruct and educate your clientele to the point they will only trust YOU (over other detailers or their know it all brother in law), and to the point where they know you have their best interest at heart. Only then will you no longer have to worry that a published price list may lose you business. I cannot tell you how many customers just say "do whatever you think is necessary and just tell me what I owe you". Also I have a greater than 80% conversion rate on details that turn into regular maintenance accounts (bi-monthly, q3wk, monthly, quarterly). In the end these are the numbers that count most.

Your price list should reflect your level of expertise and your market base..... and positive outcomes can be seen in return business or maintenance conversion.

Just my 2 cents as a weekend detailer ;)
