Pricing Advice

Here in new york city the going rate for a custom job is $175 all cars..........except SUV's and larger rides........

I am looking at adding a quality wax, have a bottle of Megs gold class, but want to upgrade. I also am looking at the WG lens cleaning system, WG glaze, a Metro vac, eventually an extractor, amongst many other things.

What products do you have?
good question, that would make my prices vary too. meguiars and souveran arent really in the same category!

i thought waxing by hand was the way to go. now i prefer the machine. i thought claying by hand was the way to go, till we got one of those pad things at work. i think its better for the highly contaminated vehicles so your not on it for hours. if it gets clayed often though, you wouldnt need to invest in that really

Will look at these waxes, I probably have looked at most of them over the last few days. I already got the kit but will wait for anything else, thanks for the heads up.

Well this is also another selling point in a business. Sealant vs. wax. Most probably won't know what the sealant is for, but if you can explain to them that it will offer 4-6 months of protection, vs. 1 month for wax... they might want that instead. You could charge more for that since you won't see them as often, but it isn't any more difficult to use than wax. One downside is GENERALLY, sealants don't look as wet/deep as waxes do.

It all depends on your clients too. If you work in an affluent neighborhood, you can charge a little more. If you work in a neighborhood where an accord is a "nice" car and reserved for the richest people, you may have to adjust your prices. Practice practice practice. Also, think about how much you want to make an hour. If you want to make 20 an hour, and you figure package 1 will take 2 hours, then 40 bucks.

The Accord IS a nice car:D Lol....a poor mans rich car;) All good advice above. Would work with the wording on the vacuuming in all three packages as Abrcrombe stated...could be confusing. You generally have to pick what kind of clients you want to target to determine pricing.

what about a window waterspot removal package and a tire and wheel package as add-ons?

Good ideas, I will add them to the list.

I dread this, but maybe some customers are interested in getting their engines cleaned.

I may do a quick wipe down for now and add a full cleaning once I get some experience.

Don't touch it unless they ask. It is a lot of work and a lot of the time, they may not know you did it. Why waste your time and effort?

What is price sheet looking like?
Did you finalize it yet?
Have not tweaked it a lot, but this is where I am at, going to work on it and try and get a final list set over the holiday weekend.

Hey bro.. your picture links aren't working. BTW, on the second package, it says it will make your interior look new again, but there aren't any extra steps on the interior. Don't know if any customers will notice that. Also, it looks familiar. Been to any forum member websites lately?? :p

THe pics are just graphics on my doc. I am planning on going over the whole thing this weekend armed with a lot of great information I have learned over the last couple weeks. And yes this did start from a user's site, I hope they would not mind, I should have run it past them first. Just really thought the layout fir what I was looking to include and gave me a solid start.

Yeah, he told me he got it off another person's site as well. You should probably just shoot him a PM and let him know. Good template and I hope it all works out for you!
