Pro Review - Black Wow Classic & Pro - Pic Heavy

Can I call the owner of CarPro if I have a problem? Will he or she respond personally to a thread concerning their product? Is the owner of CarPro a professional detailer?

CarPro makes some excellent products and I'm sure DLUX is one of them, but for this particular application I would rather deal with Richard

Multiple applications is not a big deal for me. I charge by the hour

:D

Lol Flash, I don't know about the owner of CarPro, but I can say the US rep - Corey Caruth - will give you the same attention as Richard. I have to say I am really lucky with those I do business with. Be it Richard for Blackwow, Corey Caruth for CarPro, and Chris Thomas for Optimum.

a)It all seems like a lot of effort for a product that lasts 7 months until it is "beat"

b)I searched on the forum and it looks like there are a lot of Avalanche owners who have had great success with DLUX and a ton of less than stellar reviews of Black Wow and the Beta version of Black Wow Pro.

c)Is it really being considered that you have to get training from the folks at Black Wow in order to become an approved Black Wow Pro Installer?

a) A lot of effort? 7 months of protection seems like hardly any effort if you consider the guy that dresses his trim every weekend

b) Provide these links you speak

c) What?

Corey is a great guy, but he is not the owner of CarPro. Neither is Chris from Optimum

Would you rather be required to take a trip to California? I see you are already there, but I am not

I agree that it is less effort than applying after every wash, but, when comparing it to DLUX...it seems like a lot of work

- 1 application vs. 2 with Black WOW Pro

- 12 months of durability vs. 7 months Black Wow Pro

- No wipe off of excess required as with Black WOW

If you choose Black WOW Pro vs. DLUX based on it looking like it is "Coated" that's fine, but arguing the other variables clearly favors products other than BWP.

Lol you edited your post...
"After the 2nd application, I waited another 10 minutes, wiped off the excess and my friend went about his day, Prep and coating, and clean-up took about an hour. I'd say it'd take around 3 or 4 application of BWP if I was dealing with the same trim untreated originally and it would have taken 2 maybe 3 hours, not 3 weeks."

So if I understand the process:

Applied Black Wow

Applied Black Wow Pro 13 days later

Wait 10 minutes

Apply a 2nd coat of Black Wow

Wipe off excess Black Wow

Actually I applied Blackwow, which was then fully absorbed into the trim. Having completely absorbed(disapeared)
- 13 days later Richard sent me the beta of Blackwow Pro which the trim was prepped the same way as Blackwow Classic which took 2 coats over 10 minutes.
- 7 months later we reapplied Blackwow Pro to the trim, prep and all.
I really don't get what you're getting at here...

"7 Months Later - Time to reapply Blackwow Pro: April 18, 2014
Here we are in April, after the worse winter in over a decade and the Avalanche is back to wrap up the test of Blackwow Pro. Blackwow seems to have all but disappeared. Trim isn't as bad as day 1, but it's taken a beating so far."

That's a shame, I wonder how many of those reviews were due to not enough product being used? In the pictures, did you notice the after 7 months and being "beat" it still didn't look as faded as day 1? Again as stated MULTIPLE times in the review, prep is key to get the desired results. If you're going to take shortcuts then the results you achieve are your own, such as in detailing.

Is it really being considered that you have to get training from the folks at Black Wow in order to become an approved Black Wow Pro Installer?
This concept is still news to me, I would imagine that it would be best, BWP would still be available to the public, the list would just be people who know how to get the best results from the product, a little education goes a long way. Maybe with more that know how to use the product appropriatly, then maybe there will be less of those, "less than stellar reviews of Black Wow and the Beta version of Black Wow Pro".

Lol I wish I knew what he is talking about arguing different variables that clearly favor other products over BWP... doesn't make sense, BWP I find works best on trim the absorbs over trim that doesn't... it's clearly stated several times in the review. Sounds like to me someones just trying to cause an argument where a argument or debate is unnecessary.
This review is on BWP, not DLUX or any other trim coating or dressing. It's on my experience with both products and the results I was able to achieve with them, not on whether there is or is not better products.
Instructions on how to use it are clearly for those who choose to use it, not for those who do not like Blackwow or are ignorant to the different situations that require different approaches to obtain the necessary results.

Would you rather be required to take a trip to California? I see you are already there, but I am not

Just making the point that if a product that should be straightforward in it's use requires extensive instruction and an online test...is not ideal.

Extensive instructions? Whats extensive about cleaning the trim? Clean the trim either with APC or PreWow and then apply Blackwow.
I'm pretty sure on the instructions for DLUX it states to properly clean the trim... unless I'm mistaken of course. I know for a fact that is the reason for alot of peoples application issues. 2nd part being, give Blackwow sufficient time to absorb and saturate into the trim... I can see the problem here, impatience.
The online test is for recommended installers... you know, if someone calls Richard or his company, has a problem, he can refer them to someone really close to them that actually might be able to help them in person. Only so much one can do over the internet and on the phone.

Hi --
I wanted to compliment you on this extremely detailed and thorough review. Pics of amount of material used was an excellent idea!

Thanks for all your effort...

Awesome review!!!!! This black plastic is great for wheel wells and rockers. But the fading is unsightly and makes cars look cheap. Glad to see a decent product for this issue! My jeep wrangler was a nightmare to keep plastic "hydrated". Hopefully the 2014 Santa Fe will be easier and accepting of trim treatments!

You forgot to mention that boiled linseed oil is flammable and combustible and rags left with the boiled linseed oil can combust at room temp. Encouraging detailers to use this is irresponsible. It may have been fine back in the 70's when nothing else was available but not today.

50:50, paint thinner(mineral spirits):boiled linseed oil ....one application will last for years instead of months.

This solution is the "opti-coat" of exterior rubber/plastic trim ;)
