Problem? - Detailer Line Spray Bottle

I have about a half dozen Meguiar’s Detailer Line spray bottles that I have purchased through Autogeek and yesterday while out in the garage I went to grab my bottle of Last Touch and noticed that it was sitting in a puddle of Last Touch on the shelf. I picked up the bottle and wiped it off and inspected it looking for a crack or something and I can not find anything obviously wrong with it. The only thing that I noticed was a drop of Last touch hanging from the spray nozzle? How can the sprayer bottle be sitting in a puddle of Last Touch and there not be an obvious crack or anything in the bottle? Is it possible somehow that capillary action or some other effect caused the product to come up through the sprayer nozzle and leak out just by sitting there on the shelf? Has anyone else experienced this or can explain it? I don’t understand it. it was just sitting on the shelf with the rest of my bottles. Nothing touched it and I can not find any obvious problems with it? Strange. :confused:
 
Was the bottle previously in the house or a cool place? I'm thinking maybe if it got hot in the garage, the air in the bottle warmed up and expanded, forcing the liquid out.

Maybe. I'm not sure.

The bottle has been in the garage on the shelf along with the rest of my detailer line bottles (including another Last touch bottle) and none of the other bottles of product had a problem. This particular bottle only had about an inch and a half of product in it at the time.
 
Ya it has to be the heat. I had a bottle do the same thing. I believe it is the air inside expands and forces liquid out.
 
I had this problem with a lot of bottles when I packed up for mobile details I used storage bins... i got in the habit of twisting each bottle closed when I travel due to temperature changes, bumps in the road and sometimes over stuff storage bins no keep the product in the bottles :)

It has been pretty hot here lately, so it probably was the heat. The fact that the bottle was nearly empty, there was more air to expand and possibly force the product out.

Makes sense.

It's the garage knomes polishing thier own car and they made a little mess! LOL

You can prove or disprove by loosening the sprayer cap. That will equalize air pressure. Of course retighten before use.
 
You must not filling the bottle up properly because there is no way liquid can come out of the bottle when the liquid is at the fill line.
 
Another reason to keep your products in an air conditioned environment. Not to mention they won't go 'bad' as fast.

Not true. Liquid will expand as it heats, regardless of the amount in the bottle.


To the OP, I've had mine do this. Just close the nozzle and you won't have the problems.
