Hello folks!

Wondering if I could get some advice on a problem I have here with the tires on my Jeep SRT.

So a few weeks ago I used Megs Endurance Gel (aerosol can version) on the tires for my dressing and next car wash as I always do to clean up all the old tire shine, I use tarminator on the tires to remove any grime on the tires. So I go and use the gel again, and I apply it and I see streaks on the tires. I would apply dressing and it would look like as if I did not apply anything. So I used westleys bleach white and it got a little better but not much (note: also switched dressings to Megs NXT aerosol version which I usually use but only used endurance gel bc the auto store didnt have nxt).

Any help would be appreciated because I am very very angry about this. lol

Thanks!

sounds like an application process. I use megs endurance gel. you gotta work it over the tire a fair bit, lota wiping back and forth to get it even. i use an old wax pad to apply. I don't buff off either. I suppose aerosol is easier to apply and even coat. I feel like the bottle of gel will last for a hundred tires or more.

it could also be the way you clean the tire first off. I use apc 1:15 with a stiff brush. and wipe dry with a terry cloth. i find that the terry cloth wipe down will take off a fair bit of brown stuff. sometimes tires take 2-3 rounds of apc+brush to clean them up properly.

EDIT: Stop buying tire gel. Its a bit like wax and you will never finish a bottle. if your getting bad results watch some videos online on how to apply. read peoples reviews. avoid impulse buys, auto detail products are all about marketing and hype. save your money and research first.

I've been cleaning the tires the same since I bought the Jeep back in 09. I find it odd when I switched to endurance aerosol spray that one time, it did that.

Its the weirdest thing I have seen. I would spray on the product and let it dry and I see dry streaks.

I dont think it is an application process.

I dont know what went wrong here. lol

try using a gel. I use the endurance tire gel from Megs and it works very nicely.

That's the thing I don't want to use a gel. The problem ensued when I used endurance from megs.

Your tire cleaning process (Tarminator) is one I've never heard of, or used before.

Perhaps total removal of all Tarminator components' residues might be necessary in order to allow the Megs Endurance Gel (aerosol can version) to 'function' properly on your tires. Perhaps not.

Some car care products, as the saying goes, just don't play well together. This could very well be a couple of those products.

Just another idea:
-Keep cleaning your tires, per your tire-cleaning schedule, with your alternative tire-cleaning product you mentioned, and/or even with the ones suggested (APC's, for example)...But... leave off any tire dressings for awhile.
-Driving your vehicle around during that time frame should allow the tire manufacturers': Built-in tire blooming/browning affect to take place more effectively...Hopefully "pushing out", for better lack of terms, other 'products' residues' from previous tire dressing applications.
-The goal would be, during each successive tire-cleaning session (using the above mentioned alternative tire-cleaning products) That, and, although: All blooming/browning may not be removed with less than "one time around the tire"; at least some old dressings/cleaning products' residues may be removed each time, also.
-Perhaps then your choice of tire dressings will not exhibit the anomalies that you have previously witnessed.

Like I said...Just some ideas to think about.

I've seen it used by other detailers on other sites so I went with it a long time ago. Never had any problems. But who knows maybe it is the reason!

Thanks for the tips Bob!

the problem is the tarminator, it needs to be washed off afterwards as it contains d-limonene which is an oil, a very light oil but still an oil and needs to be washed off, i would stick to conventional tire cleaning methods as d-limonene can swell rubber/plastics and that is no good.

Great to know! I have stopped using it since the incident.

Thanks Matt!

Little update here.

Yesterday I went to my friend's shop for a cleanup after this snowstorm.

I washed the engine, washed the Jeep, clayed, polished, and waxed.

Told Mario what happened with the tires. He right away said yeah it was the tarminator. lol What a idiot move by me. I saw a detailer on autopia do it and I figured it was ok. ha

Anyways, I took some Megs Super degreaser and went to town on the tires with a brush. Must have done like 5 passes on each tire. Now my tires are back to totally normal. :)

Thanks guys for the help!

THATS WHAT UR SECRET WAS?!?!?! you used tarmintaor on your F'en tires??? OMG i am never going to let you hear the end of this!!!!
