Process - Glaze, Paint Sealant, Wax?

What is the correct procedure?

or

On a black vehicle, I am using Poorboys's SSR2, SSR1, EX-P, Black Hole Glaze then wax.

Is this the correct order?

You would do:
Glaze
Sealant
Wax

However, there are many sealants that will not adhere to the paint if you use a glaze. I would skip the glaze, and clay, polish, seal, wax.

"Glaze" has become a vague term in that some are pure with no cleaners, and some do contain cleaners and/or light abrasives. PB Black Hole contains cleaners, so you want to use that FIRST, before the sealant and wax.

bmw5541's process is correct, but in this case, EX-P won't have a problem bonding to Black Hole. So, you can wash, clay if necessary, use SSR2, SSR1, Black Hole, EX-P, then a wax of your choice,

I've always done machine polish (PO106FF), sealant (Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant) and topped it with souveran.

I was wanting to use the Menzerna Glaze for a car with light swirls (too many paint corrections over the last 3 years, so don't want to keep removing clear) use the WDGPS, and then top it with Fuzion wax on a blue M3. Does this sound like a decent plan?

A lot of people post statements like that but there's never any proof to back it up? In fact statements like that are all over detailing forums kind of like the old comments,

You need heat to break the abrasives down

which area also wrong.


I have yet to walk out into a garage and a coating of paint sealant that has slipped-off the car and piled up on the ground surrounding the car because it didn't bond to the paint.

A person should always follow a manufactures instructions because they are the ones that made their products. I wrote a very detailed explanation of the whole bonding topic on MOL and it's still over there and in the last 5-6 years no one has ever challenged it.

The sentence below is at the bottom of the page...

If applying by machine it reads like you're supposed to let it dry...

If applying by machine, set your polisher to a low speed and work until a shine begins to appear. Allow it to dry to a haze and then buff off with a clean, soft Cobra Microfiber Towel.

So it reads like it's a cleaner/wax; as such after you remove the dried residue, you can then apply the EX-P, again from the webpage for the product...

Then apply Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark Vehicles to improve gloss. Finally, top the paint with Poorboys World EX Sealant with Carnauba.

The EX-P is a paint sealant and it reads like you can apply it immediately after you remove the Black Hole Glaze.

After applying the SSR2, SSR1, Black Hole Glaze, EX-P process...

Should I wait 12 hours and then apply a second coat of EX-P sealant?

Is the wait time 12 hours after that before applying wax?

I'm thinking about using Collinite 915 then 845.

Should I wait 12 hours between each coat of wax?

BTW - I just finished the SSR2, SSR1, Black Hole Glaze, EX-P process and it looks pretty darn good so far.
(Applied one coat Black Hole and then one coat EX-P)

Thanks for the assistance...I found this info on the Poorboy's forum.

"There is no cure time for White Diamond or Black Hole.

You can apply these more than once but I wouldn't exactly call it layering even though the shine will get deeper and it may hide a little more with each application.

EX-P like most sealants will give its best shine and durability if left to cure for 24-72 hours without getting wet. 2-3 coats will get the most out of EX-P.

Natty's is basically cured about an hour after application.
The exception would be Natty's Red which sets up best after a day or two"

Wish I'd have found this first...I would have worked in another coat or two of Black Hole before the EX-P.

This is how I proceed in order without listing products. You could eliminate step 4 but I like the results!

1. Clay
2. Swirl Remover
3. Finishing Polish
4. Paint Glaze
5. Seal
6. Wax

I think you have the order mixed up because a finishing polish should be used after a swirl remover and sealant won't bond to wax.

So:

The Menzerna Finishing Glaze has a cut rate of 0.5 so to figure out if it will work do a Test Spot and then check your results.

use the WDGPS, and then top it with Füzion wax on a blue M3. Does this sound like a decent plan?

Yes as long as the MFG is removing the swirls to your satisfaction. This is where a Test Spot comes in handy. Check your process before going over the entire car.
