Hey Guys!
I have a large F-150 supercrew. I am currently using the 2 bucket method to wash this beast.
Should i be worried about the time it takes me to wash and dry the entire vehicle? Should I be doing it all at once, or dividing the car up (eg right side, left side etc. )
Any tips you have for large vehicles?
Thanks!!
I don''t have a supercrew but my truck is full size and tall.
Here's my plan of attack each time I wash her...
1. Wheels and tires first.
2. Climb into bed of truck using a Werner Work Platform as a step stool. Wash roof and back of cab paint and glass. Wash window frame at the top and even the very middle, top portion of the windshield.
3. Wash inside of bed and rinse.
4. Place Werner Work Platform on side of windshield and wash one side of windshield and one side of hood then rinse.
5. Wash the entire side of truck. (The side that I'm on after washing one side of windshield and hood).
6. Move Werner Work Platform to other side of truck and wash windshield and other half of hood. Rinse windshield and entire hood and also the fender on the other side as suds will have drained off the opposite side of me.
7. Wash the entire side of the truck and rinse.
8. Wash front grill, headlights and bumper. Rinse and re-rinse entire front clip to remove any suds splatter.
9. Wash tailgate and give the bed a final rinse.
10. Wash shock absorbers.
11. Blast truck down the road to sling water off wheels and tires.
12. Dry truck.
Takes me about 45 minutes to an hour and I hustle. I also use the foam gun.
If I'm going to machine polish the truck then I also spray truck down with Iron X beforehand. and then after washing and rinsing each of the above sections I re-foam and wash run the Cobra Clay Mitt over the paint to mechanically decontaminate each panel. Add an extra half hour to the process.
Good work out for sure.
