Product Review: Chemical Guys Blacklight/V07 Combo

Just to clear up any doubts that BL is an AIO... I have used it many times. And usually on my car every 3-4 weeks. The first time I used it I didn't believe that it was correcting. So I did an ipa wipedown of a section, and the results stood. It does correct, not just fill. I'm sure it doesn't correct like an actual polish, but it definitely exceeds CG description. If you would like a more informative write up read Todd Cooperider's write up on detailed image. He put the product through a very intense test period before approving of it. And to go back to the original post. Great results. That car looks amazing.

Awesome job!

What was the size of the sections you worked on? Same size when you perform correction or bigger? Thanks :)

Yes, I worked it in similar size sections. If you're just wanting to use it for protection you can spread it out a lot more.

wooow
thats incredible

Shocked me too!

Richard,

You're right, a picture is worth a thousand words!! :props:

I used the Blacklight and V07 last Sunday on the roof of my truck. I applied the Blacklight with a gray finishing pad on speed 3 and it went on super smooth. Adhering somewhat with the 15 & 30 minute recommendations, I buffed then applied the V07 sealant. I was pretty pleased the results and the finish was super slick. :dblthumb2:

The paint on wasn't as smooth as I'd like it so if the opportunity presents itself I might lightly wet sand with 2000 grit then polish.

Nice work!! :props:

I agree with you, if using it just for protection this stuff spreads really easy. I'm interested in your new results, please keep me in the loop.

Beautiful work Richard. Love the reflections !!!!

Thank you!

Never knew BL had so much fillers!

Same here. I honestly wasn't expecting the results achieved. I got to see the car again a month later and most of the wash swirls were back but ironically the holograms were not. I would like to wash the car with CG Citrus Wash to see if it actually removed them or the fillers were still hanging on. If it did remove them then this would be a great starter package like Todd Cooperider offers. :xyxthumbs:

Geez Richard, That looks amazing for the amount of swirls shown before. Seems like a great combo.

Thanks! I was impressed as well.

His article is the reason I purchased the combo to be honest with you. :)

Richard you are usually not a man of so few words!
But those pictures do tell the story well! :props:

You know me well Meghan! I had to give credit to Nick though, I love his reviews. :)

Sweet. His review was also the reason I bought it. I usually will wait the 30 mins cure time and top with megs gold class paste or pete's 53 paste. Either one has always produced better than awesome results.

I love the BL/V7 combo. My modification to this combo that has really hit it out the park is:

Blacklight
Wolfgang Fuzion
V7

So far, this has made the metal flake in my GT-R go insane. Like hallucinogenic, "Why are the flakes dancing with each other" insane.

I can't wait to try this combo on my black Milan !!! 1 concern though I waxed my car about 1-2 months ago with meguires ultimate Paste. Am I going to have to strip of wax then apply BL then the V7? Please help

All this Black Light and V7 combo is making me jump on the bandwagon myself. I thinking of throwing in one of their waxes on top of BL prior to V7. Is there a final word on BL being tagged as a AIO sealant with correction properties?

I'll say it again...BL has gone on every car I've touched since Todd Cooperider turned on the light (I mean BL) for me months ago.

It does so many things so well and is compatible with virtually any sealant or wax. Top with a wax and V7 and never look back.

Really wanting to try the combo.
I'm more for durability these days though... What about BL topped with a sealer such as WG 3.0 and use the v7 for maintaining? Good plan? Or use a wax followed by v7?

I've always used BL before any waxes. I'm curious to see what others are doing though.

I did bfwd over BL/V7 and was very happy. I also use the V7 to remove the bfwd dust. Works great. Good plan. In fact, I think it needs a sealant to look the best. At least on my black it does.

One thing rarely mentioned here regarding V7...with repeated use (week after week after each maintenance wash)....NOTHING will stick to the paint...not bugs, not dirt, even dust is minimized. Bird bombs come off easily with a waterless wash. Everybody talks about how great it looks....but the real big deal with it is that when you go to wash your car after several treatments of this stuff...you will be amazed how easy you car washes off...making washing SAFER than ever before.

I will never be without V7 again....its that good after you apply it a few times. Id buy it in 5 gallon containers if it was available. Also, use it on glass...wow...nothing sticks to my windshield and they are always spotless (no more glass cleaners)...

BL and V7 are truly amazing products IF you stick with the program and dial that combo in. Don't get discouraged after using them once. Its the repetitive use of these two products that will make you glad you stuck with it.

you guys are killing me and my wallet.... haven't been on the detail scene long and i keep aquiring more and more products!! First it was the wolfgang line, then XMT, then DP products most recently jumped on the Duragloss bandwagon (which hasn't even arrived) and now cause of this thread i'm gonna have to try the BL/V7 combo on my wifes black BMW!!! You guys gotta stop posting these amazing turn around pics!!

I like v7 so much I won't waste it on customer cars lol. I like to onr wash and v7 well drying. You won't even need to wax it for at least 3 washes maybe more. And it is so slick you won't stop smiling.

CWallace, I couldn't agree with you more! Before I joined AG I tried Zaino and thought I died and went to heaven, then I got some BFWD and BFCS and was like OMG! Now I'm onto the DG train and my shins are killing me from jumping from one bandwagon to another, LOL! I've been curious about CG products for some time now and this combo seems like the ticket for alot of people here, I'll be stocking up over the winter as I've got plenty as of right now.

Now, is the Blacklight more or less for dark colored cars or what?

No, it's for all colors. It brings out the clarity for a LSP. I've seen it on white and silvers, and it makes it look amazing with gloss and clarity

Thanks Rock, how does it compare to say something like DG #111/AW combo?

Wow that looks great!! Those are he only 2 products you used and got those swirls out?

I've never used DG 111/AW combo, so I can't say, I rather be honest than give bogus advice, sorry. I usually only speak on experience ;)

Thanks Rock, maybe someone who has done this can chime in, just curious, that's all.
