Product Review: Lake Country Ultra Fiber Microfiber Pad

Bump - any idea when these are coming out?

Question - will these work on re-paints or only on factory paint like Meguiars?

Also, will they work with the current Lake County backing plate or will a new one be required?

I heard they were going to be for sale at a competitor sight this week or early next week. No clue on the time frame at AG.

sounds interesting, 1 pad does both compounding and polishing.
Will AG carry it soon?
I think the HD has it and sells for $20/pack of 2.

I did some investigating into MF pads, and found an article that said the cutting and polishing pads have the same exact material, but the backing material is firmer on the cutting pads. This results in more pressure transference to the surface and thus more cut.

With this in mind, its probably possible to finish nearly as good with a cutting pad by using a less abrasive polish, and just reducing or eliminating pressure. If thats the case, having 2 different pads might be a bit of a waste.

Of course, you cant believe everything you read on the net, it might be BS.

You'll be able to order them within a couple days. :)

LC's microfiber pads can be used on all paint types - factory, after market, custom, etc.

They won't require a special backing plate.

Ive already got $150 worth of stuff sitting in my cart at home, was hoping for a sale, but might just bite the bullet so I can have some of these to try out in a couple weeks when we detail a friends 'new' used Porsche.

HI,

I want to try the above on my 3401 Flex for the final polishing. My car does not need any correction.I want to apply Füzion and then buffing it just to see if the gloss will be better than elbow grease with a microfiber towel. .Can I use the 5.5" backing plate with the 6 1/4" pad.Your comments would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Johny

Hi Johny,

Applying wax with your Flex 3104 is as easy as it gets. I normally use a blue or red foam pad as these are very soft and meant for applying sealants and wax.

To apply Wolfgang Fuzion simply scrape a few dime size dots and apply it directly to the pad. Adjust the speed setting to 3, place the pad against the finish and switch it on.

Remember, Wolfgang Fuzion is a wipe on wipe off wax so it won't need to haze before it's buffed. I'd apply it to 1 panel at a time then buff to a brilliant gloss....:props:

Whether or not the end result is better when applied with a machine rather than by hand is in the eye of the beholder.....

Great review Richard and the before and after shots really show a huge improvement.

Thanks for taking the time to document and post....:props:

Thanks Bobby so no need for the Ultrafiber Microfiber pads.

Sorry if this as been answered before, but on a Flex 3401:
Are the DA discs better to use or the Rotary pads? The 3401 has forced rotation like a rotary but is a DA in it's motion. Does anyone have experience with this?

Bringing this thread back cause I have the same concern. I mainly use the 3401 and just recently bought 6.25 in. da pads but never thought that the rotary pads might be better/safer? Thanks in advance for the help!
