Sorry guys, been away from my computer and mainly participating on the forum through my phone, while I was convalescing. I have a lot of work to catch up to and in my list of priority is to give an update to this thread.
This will be a 2 week update....
1) Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire GEL.
2) Blackfire Total Eclipse Tire Gel.
3) Poorboy's World Bold N Bright tire dressing.
4) Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Dressing.
As you can see, the truck is dirty! It has remained unwashed since the start of this review. In addition to a couple of weeks of post-op restrictions, it's been raining pretty steady. I did manage to put quite a few miles in the muck and rain and the above show that generally ALL products seem to have faired well. I would say that the pictures don't really capture well enough the difference to see it for yourself, so let me offer my impressions.
First off, in terms of water beading and dirt repellent properties, I will have to say that I am very impressed that all products seem to have offered similar results. At first glance the unprotected areas did show a dirt layering effect that was not observed on the protected surfaces, and did show the beginnings of blooming (brownish discoloration).
Daily inspections of the tire did show a progressive loss of gloss which was noticeably more rapid with the dressing. Pinnacle Gel seem to have lasted a little longer but I doubt that it is statically significant enough. By the end of 8 days baking in the Southern sun, the high gloss was completely gone and replaced by a nice rich satin look. This satin look remains and does favor the gels over the dressing with Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel still being my favorite.
The "leaching effect" noted in the Pinnacle Gel product continued and I am currently unable to really determine where the division lines are at this time. This is a major plus considering that the product will continue working well beyond you are done applying it. If you miss a spot you can depend on the product to assist in covering/protecting those areas.
Depth and richness of color would still have to go to the Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel product. Although all areas are satin, a slight sheen and slightly darker depth of gray/black does seem to favor the sidewall protected by the Pinnacle Gel product.
Overall, I would say that my favorite thus far and my personal winner is Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel.
Hope you appreciate the update. Feel free to ask questions
P.S. I may offer one more update at the time of the Beast's next washing, and may try to supplement the pictures with a video of the water beading and sheeting off the tire, but I can't make any promises. It all depends on my physical state at the time :xyxthumbs:
