Products That Stain Trim...Why Use Them?

First of all hello to everyone and thank you so much for the vast amount of knowledge you have shared on this forum. I have spent many hours here, learning.
I am puzzled though as to why people would use a product that stains trim when there are so many good products that don't? I paint cars, motorcycles, jet-skis, etc as a hobby so I am very familiar with masking. If there are two products with similar properties such as ease of use, gloss, durability, etc and one stains trim but the other doesn't I'm going to use the one that doesn't stain trim. Why go through all the trouble of masking and/or getting the wax off the trim after waxing? Thank you for your input.

I agree with you on waxes and sealants.


Compounds and polishes, it really does not matter that they can stain, because you should be taping of the trim anyway.

I just wish some of the polishes, like Mother's; didn't stain my pads so badly. It turned my White Lake Country CCS Grey. They need to reverse engineer something like Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (a Polish) that leaves very little color behind on my pads.

I agree with what your saying though it sometimes boils down on personal favorite, price wise and such what I am saying is that yeah all products are created almost the same thought some of us will feel and think that the product that stains does a better job in look's durability, price, etc than that don't stain, but as may going say its a good habit to mask all trimming and such as precaution

Polishes - who knows for sure what will stain trim until you try it.... However, I agree with you on waxes. But, I have a pretty decent collection of waxes - probably 25 to 30 - and I can't think of any decent wax that stains trim. If it did - wouldn't be worth my time.
