Project: 1993 Mustang

Awesome so far! Can't wait to see the next update, Oscar.:dblthumb2:

The mods come slow and over time for most of us. Hell I've had my Cobra for 6 years and have yet to pulley swap and tune it. Belt and pulley are still sitting in the garage. You're off to a great start though. And as long as you don't sell it there's always room to grow as time and finances allow. It's been said that the fox Mustang is the 55 chevy of my generation. Translation: they will never grow out of style.

Your right. The car already has slight mods that sure make it fun to drive. I still dont know the future of this car and what im going to do with it. All i know is that im making it look better than new right now. I cant wait to ser it all finished. And you are right, fox mustangs will never grow out of style, they are soon to become classiscs! :)

i only see fox body's as drag cars. probably the best car for the strip.

Im excited for you!

Nice work so far! Good luck on your project.

I agree, Foxbodies are very popular cars for drag racing. ive seen everything in them from 2jzs to lsx motors. Especially coupes like these, super light cars.

Im excited for you!

Nice work so far! Good luck on your project.

Thanks Garry! Im excited as well, everything has been falling in schedule just perfectly and it should soon be ready. Hopefully i have it ready for the NMRA event in november here in houston texas and try to win Best Interior, Best Body & Paint ,Best Detail and Best of Show

Update

So i FINALLY finished the final sanding on the car. I was able to wet sand it all on monday with 600 grit and then on Tuesday i sanded it again to refine it and to make sure i didnt miss any spot. I then had A LOT of taping and covering to do. Its funny, the car is nearly all 100% stripped down and im still doing so much papering and taping. SInce the door jams are ready i made sure i didnt get NO over spray on them, so i had to cover them all.

IMG_0801.jpg

i was going to use paper but plastic made it ALOT easier to fold into the tight areas. I backed taped it here so just in case paint flew in there i didnt get a hard edge.

IMG_0800.jpg

All covered and ready to go.

As you can see the trunk came off in order to get all the paint well in there. Dont you just hate seeing a other color paint when you open the doors or trunk of some car? Some people are just too lazy to do everything needed to do a "full color change"

IMG_0798.jpg

Even tough the windows are down and i didnt have to cover them i placed paper just in case dirt flew out from inside. Little Dirt nibs and small particles sure can ruin your day when painting. So just for precaution, the paper will not allow any dirt from inside to fly out.

Hood came off to get paint inside the wall of the fenders and firewall. The firewall was already painted so i backed taped so i wouldnt get a hard edge. I obviously had to cover the engine for no over spray. The 306 LSX killer is now safe.... :joking::D just a joke!

The hood and trunk will be sprayed aside.

So Monday is the big day. I will be able to paint it all on monday. So keep an eye out for the update on monday so you guys can see how looks all painted! :coolgleam::hotrod2:

Cool stuff, can't wait man.

My brother decided he wants to drive my Bronco II, so we are double timing fixing it... We are prolly gonna brush paint it!

Youd be surprised at how easy it is once you get the hang of it. Solid colors are the easiest ones to spray. Metallics and pearls is when it gets a little tricky. When it comes to the clear is probably where most freak out. I did mess up alot when i started but now i got the hang of it! :)

i personally wouldnt wait that long between sanding and painting. 2 days tops for me. were all different i guess lol. what paint you using?

how did the inside of the cowl look and inside the door jams? that is usually where the rust starts on them. either way keep up the great work and plenty of pictures :dblthumb2:

I know how you feel, hell if i could of painted it today i would of. But here is the thing, I have this car at my school. We have class from 7-1pm. Only from Monday trough Thursday. So now you see why i have to wait till Monday? Trust me man, in the few hours i get everyday i haul ass and got it all ready this week for painting on Monday. Sadly, since i doubt im keeping the car in the long run i had to go with no fancy paint. Im using Shopline Plus paint and Shopline european clear. Its OK but no the greatest thing on earth. But ill make sure to make it look good. If i was keeping the car, i would of used Glasurit. :xyxthumbs:

Surprisingly, the door jams were perfectly fine. They seriously have no sign of rust AT ALL. This car used to be a 4 cylinder owned by an old lady that kept good care of it. Now on the in inside of the cowl there is just slight surface rust. But nothing big, just a little scuff will knock it right off. Believe it or not, this car has no sign of bad or major rust. :xyxthumbs:

Update:

So its finally thursday, and im sure you all knew i was going to paint snowflake on monday.... Well i did paint it. But let me just tell you guys, it was hell... EVERYTHING came out wrong. The filters in the down draft booth had not been changed and i didnt notice so they were barely sucking anything down. So where did all the little dust and crap fall? in my car. It looked horrible. Just plain horrible. I had crap all over the car by the time i applied my first coat of clear that i just decided to stop and not go any further since i would just be wasting clear. I was extremely enraged, i was so close to punching the hell out of something. i had work so hard on everything so when the final day to paint it came along... everything just went upside down.

So the following days i spent my days sanding it down so i can reclear it. The paint is still ok so i dont have to shoot base all over the car again. Its only a few spots that i have to reshoot.

So today i saw an opportunity to refinish my hood and trunk and its exactly what i did. Even tough i still did get a few dirt nibs here and there is nothing major so when i wetsand it and buff it, it will all be taken care of. Onto the pics:

Believe it or not. It has very little orange peel. Its my 4th time painting and entire car and compared to the others ive done... this really showed my progress!

IMG_0834.jpg

Trunk!

IMG_0835.jpg

Take a look at the lights in the roof. We all know that these florescent lights are completely straight. So we all know that orange peel distorts images and reflections so as you can see they dont look perfectly straight due to the orange peel. But trust me guys, compared to the other things ive done before...this looks very good! :dblthumb2:

IMG_0836.jpg

This is a shot from the middle of the trunk. As you can see, the orange peel is very slight here. I was amazed at how very little orange peel i got! But for some reason i layed it on nicer in the middle that towards the edges (you will see in the next picture) My guess is that i shot it a little too fast towards the edges and slowed it down once i was in towards the middle.

IMG_0838.jpg

IMG_0837.jpg

See what i mean? towards the edges in went on really pealy (is that even a word? :dunno:) even tough the orange peel is worst towards the edges its all good. I will be wetsanding the entire car to completely remove all the orange peel. Since you all know, that i hate orange peel! :xyxthumbs: Hopefully once its all wet sanded i and polished to perfection... i will have show car quality paint! :dblthumb2:

any comments and toughts are appreciated!

Awesome job man! Can't wait to see the car all put together. However, I think you should try and put a twelve cylinder in that car.Im the MAN

Thanks Ted! For some reason, i seriously dislike the way 12 cylinder cars sound. They soubd like motorcycles!!! V8's with exhaust is the best sound in the world!!!!!!

It is looking amazing!

Personally I like the sound of a well tuned V8 and I LOVE the sound of a BMW I6 that is well tuned!
