Hello and Welcome to Project Type S
This is my buddy Dave's 2004 RSX in Artic Blue Pearl. A very nice color but the car has never been properly detailed. So I told him we could do the job! This was his first time using a DA and we used the Megs Microfiber system with compound and then Wolfgang Finishing Glaze as the finish polish. I was pretty impressed and Dave picked it up really quickly. Overall, I know I had a ton of fun and I was suprised how well the D300 finished down. I know Honda/Acura paint was soft, and it showed as this car was super easy to correct. Total time was about 10 hours. All Pics were taken with Cell Phone cameras so I apologize for lack of quality. Here is what we used.
CG Citrus Wash and Gloss in Foam Cannon
Wash with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss with 2 bucket method with grit guards
Clay with Mother's Clay Bar
Megs D300 via DA and Flex with Microfiber cutting pad
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze via DA and Flex with Microfiber finishing pad
Sealed with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
Plenty of Microfiber towels
DP Tire Gel
DP Wheel Cleaner
Poor Boys APC
I always begin with the wheels, so we hit them with some wash solution and got going
So here we are letting the wheels soak in some Wheel Cleaner. I hit the tires with some APC and scrubbed them good. Dave handled the spokes.
Overall, I think they came out pretty nice and I know Dave was happy with them!
Now it's on to the paint! The Paint wasn't too bad, but there were water spots all over the place, swirls, and some deep RIDS. One in particular was from the sunroof wind deflector. We'll come back to that one later.
So you get the idea. The paint isn't terrible but definitely needs to be refreshed. A bit of oxidation as well. But hey, it's 7 years old.
To be continued......
