I just got a call from my father telling me he just found out that he has prostate cancer. He is only 57. Anyone have any first hand experience with or a family member with / lost to prostate cancer? We have a meeting with him and the Dr at 4pm CDT tonight as they are recommending immediate removal of the prostate. Any prayers are appreciated, his name is Greg.

I work with a guy who had his removed last year. All is good. He goes in for tests orten now.
 
my dad had prostate cancer..he was treated for it with radiation....it was not removed ..it was caught in early stages...and it went into remsission..

I hope your father comes out of this with flying colors..I will keep him in my thoughts.....I wish the best for him and his Family....

my uncle recently had it ... implanted some radioactive pellets versus removal. Will still need chemo, but less avasive. Its nasty and prayer goes out to your family.

Best of luck to your father. Way back in High School friend of mine was dating a senior, he ended having I think testicular or prostate cancer, can't remember. Pretty scary somebody that young could be affected like that.
 
You and your family will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers.
 
I know two men who have had their prostates removed, years ago, and they are both fine now. The prognosis can be very good for this type of thing...I sincerely hope it is so for your Dad.
