trying to put a standard detail kit together for my car. so far i have bought but haven't tried nrw. i bought smartcarpet for my upholstery and quik interrior , hot shine tire spray, perfect clarity glass cleaner. any suggestions on which products i should replace . as of right now i looking to replace hot shine . dont like the way the tires are looking. was using smart wax waterless wash but not never cost effective. any suggestions would be greatly welcome

I think the best tire dressing is Prima Infinity. PB's Bold & Bright is good as well. The former has polymers - so it lasts a bit longer - the latter is a water based product.

I'm guessing something called "Hot Shine" is loaded with silicone and slimy stuff that makes routinely cleaning a tire almost impossible. Using a water based dressing will mean it won't last as long. However, cleaning the tires each wash correctly and re-applying the dressing will mean your tires won't have brown sludge like dirt to scrub off them and they will look professionally detailed.

As for waterless washes, Pinnacle and Ultima are the best out there IMHO - and also the most cost effective.

I'm going to disagree with Swanic just slightly regarding water-based tire gels. I use Blackfire Total Eclipse Tire Gel, which is water-based, but also has polymers (which is why only "slightly" disagreeing...he mentioned polymers last longer). I use one coat about every 3-4 washes. It lasts through those 3-4 washes plus any weather in between (rain, etc). Between reapplications, during my wash, I just spray the tire down with DG901 diluted 1:64 and hit it with a tire brush and the matte clean black comes right back. Now, if you like a more glossy tire, you can do 2 coats 5 minutes apart. You may have to put at least one coat back on every wash if you like that look.
