I have a few bottles of quick detailers and spray waxes, and they all say not to use on hot surfaces or in the sun. I see tv shows where the guys are qd-ing out in the sun, obviously on hot surfaces. Are there certain products for this or do you just ignore the warnings?

I try not to use any QD or spray wax on the paint (pull into the shade if possible) when it's hot or sunny because it will streak and make it difficult to remove...

You can use Megs d156 and d115 in the sun. d115 can be mixed as a QD even though its not expressly written. It is a waterless wash afterall and would work admirably at 8:1 (up to 20:1 in the sun) for QD

So would something like Blackfire waterless work also, diluted at 8:1 or 20:1 ?

I don't know if those can be used in the sun like d156 and d115. I do have BF rinseless but never tried it in the sun. Check the products on AG as they usually say something about if it can be used in the sun or not.

I haven't used a dedicated QD in the sun in quite some time now. I do recall most I tried streaking - especially noticeable on a black car which is *hotter* than other colors. Currently, I use my rinseless was solution mixed up a bit stronger as a QD. I have no issues using that in direct sunlight for what it is worth.

Read the descriptions or directions. Many QD's can be used in direct sunlight, many recommend on a cool surface only.

One that can be is XMT Final Finish Instant Detailer.

What ratio do you mix at ?

I had great experience with Meguiars D115 mix at 1:9 and usually after presoak with Meguiars D114 1:100. I use both as QD :D

Poorboy's do fairly well on hot surfaces.

i use mothers instant detailer in the sun all the time on my silver impala with no issues

Meguiars quick detail products seem to work fine in the hot sun with minimal streaking.

The best I've found in the sun is Prima Hydro or Slick. Black car, hot sun - no streaks. #2 is Poor Boys Spray and Gloss.

I think you may have already sent me some??? Someone did - may have been you. The stuff sent was awesome - but I never knew if it came to market or not.

Yes, but you need the final version. :xyxthumbs:

Megs D115 is my new best friend. Phenomenal product in any weather.

I have used Meguiars D115 in the hottest of sun and it works great. The great thing about D115 is you can change the dilution ratios for hotter weather.
