If you use a spray wax do need a QD? If you use a QD do also need a Spray wax? Are they one in the same? Do you need both?

I am confused.

Great question.

I personally use a qd during my drying phase, aka spray on a wet panel, then wipe with a dam microfiber then buff with a clean, dry one.

For spray waxes, I like to use it after its dry to boost the wax underneath. I try to keep things "in the family" aka, same brand.

-Since the majority of Quick Detailers (QD's) contain a rather large percentage of water...
I'll use them when I wish my vehicles' already-sealed-paint to have that: "Just Detailed" appearance...
No need to have to resort to a wash (and possibly "re-sealing") session this way.

-I use "Spray-Waxes" on clean paint...
[Sometimes, even, on just cleaned (as in QD'ed-clean) paint.]

Are they interchangeable?
-Possibly: Both may contain a few similar/common ingredients (surfactants, for example).
-Conversely: Some ingredients are not exactly the same.

However...IMHO:
Both can contribute most favorably to vehicles' car-care maintenance programs.
That's why I've made room for both on my detailing-products shelves.

They may look the same and/or come in similar bottles but rest assured they're 2 different products. QD is for helping with light dust or water spots that run out of tight areas after you wash, or worse, bird sh!t removal. Spray wax on the other hand is when you've just washed your car and are looking to add some protection and/or shine. I know QD's can do that but not on the same level...IMO.

Some of the time. Some of the time, a QD is a spray wax (look at Wolf's for example). QD is a very subjective thing and I can tell you for fact that some QDs are superior to some spray sealants or spray waxes. On the other hand, some are totally different - short of an accurate MSDS and an experienced eye, it is hard to tell what a QD really is.

You need both or use ONRWW. Its my go to waterless wash but you can mix it for a QD as well. UV protection and carbnuba wax as an additional benefit. A dedicated spray way is always a good thing to have on hand.

After I ONRWW a car I follow with V07 for a final wipe.

Yes.....QD to get the dust, light dirt and fingerprints off.....Spray Wax after the QD to add protection and shine.

Id go with a waterless wash that also contains wax such as the new pinnacle waterless wash. Its safer and cleans better than a detail spray and it puts down carnauba wax and a heck of a gloss.

One product.

Or you can use DG 932 and mix as a QD. You get a QD and Aqua Wax with a very slick finish all in one.

I use both. I use a QD for dust, finger prints, and very lite cleaning. I use spray wax once a week after washing. I use ONR as a QD on my silver Toyota and Megs 156 as a SW. On my Black Lexus I use Pinnacle Crystal Mist as a QD and Pinnacle spray wax. I really like Pinnacle products but Crystal Mist is kind of expensive to use as a QD. I use it several times a week, a 16 oz bottle does not last long. Any recommendations on a alternative?

Why not use your ONR as a QD on everything, can't touch the price when making a gallon! Maybe get the ONR w/ wax in it if you want that little extra or I suggest going for my favorite, DG rinseless made as a QD, its also got AW infused into it already, that's what I'd do!

Thanks Klasse Act! I think I will try the DG with AW, it is much cheaper than Crystal Mist. I was a little afraid to use anything other than Crystal Mist on top of Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax, but I really like DG 901as a wash. How should I mix the DG with AW for best results as a QD?

The DG rinseless already has AW in it, so your all set there. To make a gallon of QD using DG rinseless you need 8 oz of products, the rest water. Some people add more though but with most rinseless washes out there its been this ratio to make QD from what I've read.

Directions are on the bottle. 3oz to 16oz water

Are you saying that on bottle of DG's rinseless wash it says this is the ratio for making QD?

FYI

Using a waterless wash with wax is not the same as a spray wax. It will leave a wax on their for maybe til the next rain but no longer where as a quality spray wax will be around for a month or longer

On my gallon of 932 it states it right on the label "Mix 3oz. with 16oz. to make QD"
