Ok first post so dont be too harsh on me lol....Ok so i have a black 350z and i finally got around to wanting to do a bit of paint correction to it. First time i got to use my 7424xp as well. Washed the car and clayed it yesterday. Im using the wolf 3.0 glaze and swirl remover. Did the hood yesterday and it looks pretty damn good. My main question is that one side of my car was wrecked and repainted when i bought it but i didnt know that till later. So without knowing how much clear is on that side do i need to worry about messing anything up or should i be ok with the 7424?? I just wanted to ask before i did it and regretted it.

You should be safe to polish it with your PC. I would only be really worried if you took it to a non reputable paint shop that did shotty work.

The other worry is if it was painted with a single stage type of paint. If this is the case then you would still be safe to polish it, just need to take care not to burn through your paint. Other than that, most body shops will put 2-3 coats of clear when reprinting.

If you were trying to use a compound, I would recommend using minimal passes and working slowly on the reprinted panels so as to not burn through any edges.

Good Luck!

Well ty very much sir....I guess ill be finishing that up today then and then i went and bought some meg ultimate wax to go over the whole car so i hope it works good lol.

For longer lasting protection with just as much shine, try Meg's synthetic sealant 2.0 or Wolfgang's sealant. Meg's Wax is always a good choice, but I find that you have better longevity for protection if you go with a sealant instead of a wax. Just my 2 cents.

its highly unlikely to burn through paint on a PC, and even if it was repainted with single stage don't make it easier to burn through, the paint film is not thin like the color coat of a base coat clear coat car, and most likely it was painted with base coat clear coat so i really wouldnt worry about that.most likely he knows its repainted due to the different paint textures. i would not attempt to correct that unless you are very good at sanding and compounding paint, also you do not know what the clearcoat thickness is so i would leave it alone and just do what your doing to the rest of the car. with the products the OP is using its clear he is not using a compound at this time and the wolfgang swirl remover and glaze is not a harsh combination at all so he wont be polishing through the clearcoat film.... for protection i always default to collinite 845, long lasting protection, great look, even better price...
