Possibly. I figured 3"-4" pads weren't really around back when the tool was designed and they all just stuck with the larger size shroud as the tool evolved.

Yup. Waiting. I'm new to polishing and am very glad I got the flex. However, I want a small DA now but am too scared to get a rotary such as the pe8.

I may just have to suck it up and get the Rupes mini if flex isn't coming out with a mini.
 
In the same boat. I am using a 3 inch plate of my GG and it works decent, it's just not made for it. The guard around the spindle hinders vision. I wish I could pop it off sometimes or that it came with a slightly smaller one.
