For those of you that use Brake Buster Wheel cleaner, have you noticed a difference in its ability to prevent rust from forming on brake components when diluting the product vs. using it as intended? [full strength]

It’s said to contain rust inhibitors, so I’m curious if diluting it and therefore lessening its rust inhibitors leads to worse performance in the way of rust.

I've been using it since it came out and exclusively use it in my IK Foam Pro 9. From day 1 I noticed the rotors didn't rust up as much as using another maintence wheel cleaner. My ratio is 4:1 and even at a weaker ratio it still keeps the rotors better, plus for my cleaning needs, does the job

4 parts cleaner 1 part water?

I write my ratios backwards from everyone else, 4 parts water, 1 part Brake Buster and I always make up a gallon at a time using distilled water so it stays good for longer

I don't think that's backwards. That's how I'd interpret it.

I get you, glad Ric reached out to clarify because it sounds like he's looking to try a staple in many of our collections...P&S Brake Buster. If I had to guess I've been through about 6-7 gallons since it came out, they keep making it, I'll keep buying it

Actually my 1st thought was how you said… But it’s been a long time since we’ve discussed dilution ratios and I think people outside detailing do it backwards as us so I just wanted to make sure.

But no, I’m not interested in trying Brake Buster. The reason why I’m asking is because I watched a video yesterday where this dude mixed up his Brake Buster and near the end of the video he did a close up on his wheels and there was rust on the brakes, then he mentioned something about how Brake Buster is supposed to help prevent that and it made me think…

If Brake Buster is supposed to help prevent that, then why the heck is there rust on your brakes after using it? Then it made me think of how he diluted it and the fact that no where on the label does it recommend you dilute it at all. So I’m thinking maybe if he used it as directed it actually would live up to its claim and prevent rust.

I’m interested in hearing from people who use it straight undiluted.

Oh gotcha

Well using it straight would probably help even further with rust but no matter what, it's going to gave "some"

Why if it says it has rust inhibitors?
Why make the claim if it’s still going to leave rust? Wouldn’t they be setting themselves up for a bunch of customers wanting their money back?

Did you know Armor All has a money back guarantee on all their products? Call the 1-800 number on the label if you’re not 100% satisfied with the product and they’ll send you a check for the full amount no questions asked.

I think "inhibitors" leaves the door open to Interpretation

Armor All money back, better keep that number and info on the back in the smallest print so they stay in business...wait, are they still around

It’s actually not fine print. They put it smack dab in the middle of everything. They’ve always done it that way. It’s something I’ve known and thought about everytime I’ve bought an Armor All product for over 10yrs.

If it sucks, I call them and they send me a check.

Most of their products actually exceed expectations.

Glad you like their product, hopefully the check doesn't bounce

Most of their products are kinda weird in the way that they almost require you to use them exclusively and give up using other stuff + they tend to be super geared towards the Walmart detailer.

These days I only use one AA product and that’s their Extreme Shield Wax which I stocked up on 10yrs. ago and still have a couple of bottles of. IMO it’s the best liquid sealant ever invented and still to this day is better than anything else I’ve tested.

This just reminded me in another thread just now… I’ve got a hunch that this Extreme Shield Graphene Spray Coating has the potential to be wickedly good. One thing I’ve come to find out is pretty much everything under their Extreme Shield line is good to mind blowing great. You see how it says on the label “water & dirt repelling”

When they say things like that they aren’t messing around… That’s the type of stuff they dare you to take them up on their money back guarantee and it shockingly does what it says. Like blow your mind dirt repelling, that’s how that liquid sealant works too.
