I have seen a lot of comments about 845 being used as an LSP and others talking about using it as a sealant. My plan was to use Wolfgang sealant 3.0 , top it with 845, and a nice jewlling with Soveran. My question is am I duplicating a step using Wolfgang and 845?? Thanks for your help with this!

Collinite 845 is a great wax especially for the price... It lays down thin, provides a gorgeous gloss and protects for 5 months.

Jeweling is done with fine polish, not with wax.

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Polish
  • Jewel
  • Clean
  • Wolfgang Sealant
  • Collinite 845

with what you're going for you should glaze, seal, wax.

Agree with the jeweling definition. But to follow up on nrsk4u's question, I topped my 845 with a little bit of liquid Souveran and it looked pretty nice on our gold ML 350.

Thanks ALOT for the clarification BobbyG! So aside from that it seems like I'm on the right track. Maybe a little BFWD for a polish?

If you really want long lasting protection for a work truck or daily driver, go over your car twice with KAIO, top with one coat of KSG, then top with a coat of Collinite 476.

Yea, I'm wondering where the collinite fits in .... Sealer or wax, I've herd it being used as both

It says Insulator Wax on the bottle, so it's not a sealant.

:props:

So, I'm wondering if I should do 845 then Souveran or the other way around. Seems as I'm confused on weather it's a true LSP or not. Seems like other forum members top 845 with another type of carnuba

BFWD is a sealant, not a polish.

I think you're getting a little wrapped around the axle with your terminology. An LSP (Last Step Product) is the protectant step you take after whatever prep work (cleaning, polishing) you do.

Some people like to layer LSP's, and the general rule is that you can put a wax on top of a sealant, but not a sealant on top of a wax.

Jst to play devils advocate.....jst cuz it says wax on the bottle doesnt always mean its really a wax. Look at nxt 2.0 for example.

IW is a wax, it just also has some "resins" in it which improve the durability. It's not a sealant in the way polymer sealants are.

EDIT: Eh, I have to partially take that back, looking at the new Collinite website, they don't call 845 anything more than a wax and "user-friendlier version of 476S", but they now refer to the 476S as a "carnauba/polymer blend". AFAIK that's new terminology for them.

agreed...im at 7 months with 845 as a stand alone LSP on my moms car and my sisters car

I wonder if the extra coat of Souveran would not be needed. It is a black car though.......

FWIW I'm still a noob but I'm thinking "why not". If you sealed the car and waxed with 845 that should do nicely. But when I threw on the liquid Souveran (it was about a month later) the car looked even better. Its up to you, but my experience was a positive one.

You can top with Souveran. I topped my Collinite 845 with Pinnacle SSII, and it looks great.

Just know that Souveran lasts for 1-2 months.

I have used 2 layers of wax on many cars and could not see any difference comparing to 1 layer.
My .02 cents only.
