As of now I don't have a high powered 3 inch rotary for sanding off oxidation. All I have is a 3 inch Griots garage mini polisher. I was wondering what options I have as of now for doing restorations without buying a new machine? Thanks guys!

Your 3" Griots is ideal for the sanding phase of headlight restoration

You just need to add a Meguiar's 3" Foam Interface pad, so that the sandpaper discs will conform to the headlights better

What he said. A rotary is definitely not necessary. I use a drill, but would prefer using a DA because they are much easier to work with and handle and will still provide great results.

I heard the GG 3" would work well for sanding them down but what about buffing out the sanding marks and polishing? I know the GG doesn't have enough you power for that or it will just take forever.

Go all the way up to 5000 grit sanding. Do you have a PC or other larger (than the GG 3") DA? I sand with the GG 3" and then polish with a PC with a 4" pad. I know the GG is wimpy but it may be fine for polish after the 5000 grit sanding, I haven't tried it that way though.

Yeah I thought about that too. I guess I should just get the 3 inch backing plate for the PC. Probably a good investment in the long run

Should work fine. I sand down headlights with 1500, 2500 and 3000 then polish out with HD's polish and 4" pads with ease.

Cool thanks for the info! I'm going to invest in some 3" disc very soon.
