Hi, new to this GREAT forum and I have a question about Menzerna IP. I need a polish that I can use with my PC to take out light to moderate swirls and scratches from dark paint. I'm new to polishing and want to make sure I get a polish with reducing abrasives to minimize the risk to the paint. Is Menzerna IP a reducing abrasive polish?

Thanks in advance!

I cannot comment on Menzerna products, but I am considering some myself.

For $10, you CANNOT go wrong with DP Mild Swirl Remover

XMT, OP, Meg's all good products to look into too.

Take care and welcome! :D

IP "may" finish out for you....but you also may have to finish up with a lighter polish..such as Menz FP.

Intensive Polish should work just fine, but darker paint will benefit from a follow up of Final Polish II on a finishing pad (jewelling).

There are a number of excellent polishes that you can use to remove moderate swirls. AG has several polishes on sale right now and all of them have diminishing abrasives. http://autogeek.net/prewaxpolishes.html It's always a good idea to follow up with a finishing polish if you are using an abrasive with a pretty meaty cut. Although alot of these polishes finish down pretty much LSP ready, the extra time and effort you take to do the final finishing polish will really make a difference in the end results of the car's paint. Just my 2 cents. :)

Thanks for all the input guys!

I use Zaino, so one of my concerns is compatibility and bonding. I've read where some polishes have ingredients (waxes, and such) which might prohibit a good bond between the paint and the sealer... Hence my interest in Menzerna IP and FP, but I'm also open to other suggestions as well.

Thanks again!

Residues from polishes are nothing that cannot be solved easily with a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water wipe down. Feel free to use any polish you wish with confidence. :)

Personally, I've never loved Menzerna IP. FPII is fantastic though and I have some 106FF that I'm going to try. I just found that the IP dusts a bit (not too bad) and that it flashes too fast for my taste. I've been looking to replace it in my line up and have tried XMT 3 and Poorboy's SSR2.5 so far. Personally, I liked the XMT 3 better but that was based solely on the fact that the Poorboy's dusted a lot when I used it. Otherwise, they both performed about the same. Next, I'm trying out Optimum Compound. I already have the bottle but haven't had the chance to try it yet.

This is my plan for the early spring. Menzerna IP probably with orange pad, followed up with Zaino ZPC probably with white pad, then Z5P, then probably Z2P. I did buy a PC w/pads and several other items from the geek, so I hope this post is not insulting?

That's kinda my plan too, only I was going to sub Menzerna FPII for ZPC.

Well, I just used PO166F and liked it. Having said that, it was not much better than DP SSR or XMT#3 which are a third of it's price.

It's good but there are better bangs for the buck out there.

That's why I plan on using the ZPC instead of the FP, so it starts the bonding process.

I found ZPC to be about the most disappointing product in the Z line. It discolored my surrounds green, and it isnt a very good polish. Menzerna FP is hands down better as is the Ceramiclear line. Even XMT2 and Poorboys 2.0 are better.

If you decide to try something that looks like Pro line try the new DP Shield Shine or the Four Starr UPP. If you like the original Z2 look, then look to Duragloss 105. One big benefit , no mixing, but you need to allow each level to cure. In truth, no matter the sealant there is little to no difference after two coats anyways. (well other than wasted product)

I haven't used ZPC myself since I'm quite satisfied with SSR2.5 and SSR1. However, I still use Z2Pro and Z5 as my sealants before topping it with anything else, in my case, Poorboys NB.

On my truck, I used Poorboys EX-P and even though it looked fantastic after two coats, that stuff just didn't last very long. I want to buy some Wolfgang sealant as I've heard great things about it. I just hope that my picture in this month's contest is good enough to win the $100 shopping spree!!!

I used both Intensive Polish and Final PolishII over winter break last month I was very happy with the results. It does dust a little bit but it didn't bother me. FPII giave me a nice deep gloss. You can't go wrong with Menzerna. :)
