Question about poorboy polish

Question about poorboy polish ( Also, Pinnacle)

Is Poorboy's World SSR1 considered a finishing polish? Or would you need to apply another polish after using?
I am thinking about picking up the poorboy PC kit and wasn't sure because I haven't seen anyone who used the SSR1.
I am also looking at a pinnacle kit. Which would you recommend?
For the record, the car is red.

Hi welcome to the forum.

The poorboy's kit you are considering is the same kit that I bought when I first started out. I was and still am very satisfied with all of the products.

SSR1 is the finishing polish, it will remove any hazing that SSR2.5 may leave behind. They are both very user friendly and can produce excellent results. Here is some correction I did awhile ago, some pretty bad scratches and over all poor condition paint turned out very nice.

One pass SSR2.5, second SSR2.5 pass on deep scratch areas, one SSR1 pass, all with white polishing pad (see link below).

The nattys blue wax looked nice on darker color paint, havent played with it much though. Spray and wipe is handy to do maintenance cleaning, and spray and gloss is a decent QD.

I would certainly recommend this kit to anyone getting into paint correction/detailing for the first time, its price to performance ratio is really up there IMO.

As for the pinnacle kit, I cant comment because ive rarely ever seen anyone using those polishes, on this forum and others. Maybe that speaks for itself. Although the Liquid Souveran and Crystal mist are very nice offerings.

I am reading the link and he says not to prime the pad with anything but the product, what does he mean by prime?
Also, If I use 2.5 on a white pad, then I need to goto 1, I am assuming using the same pad would be a bad idea ( As using the same applicator for anything is a bad idea).

With some products some people like to spray the pad with a pad conditioner, or QD, or even water before they start to polish. SSR polishes seem to work better without any of this, just a little extra polish the first time applying to the pad.

And yes you are right about the pads, different pad for each polish.

PS I like 5.5" flat pads best with the PC. They have white orange and gray now here at AG I believe.

as offered SSR is a light finishing polish ... most find using both 2.5 and 1.0 the best offering as a twosome.

That is a tough decision! I went with the Poorboy's Kit over a year ago and I have never been disappointed with the products. Poorboy's World make great products, especially for the price. And they can be used in the sun. The SSR 2.5 and SSR 1 should suit most any needs. If the paint is in really bad shape you can always get some SSR 3.

On the other hand, Pinnacle is top notch and hard to beat. However, I've never used their polishing products.

Personally, I'd go with the Poorboy's kit and add in the Pinnacle Liquid Souvern or the Paste Wax so you get the best of both worlds.

Now I have one more question ( for now atleast), I have multiple vehicles I do, and one is newer and doesn't need paint correction, but could use a paint cleaning and slight shine increase, would this be a good product for that? Or is there something else I should use.

Never used it before but ive seen some good reviews. It would be great product to use to freshen up some paint that didnt need any real correction. You could always just hit it with some SSR1 as well, SSR1 is pretty mild.

Whichever you choose, Im sure you will be happy.

I believe that is right from what I've read. If the scratches/swirls are really bad and not coming out with white/2.5 than go to orange/2.5. Also ive used the Pro polish by hand with GREAT results (didnt have a UDM or anything at the time). All 3 cars were blue Evos BTW.

But the thing that i found after washing & dry is the pink colour of SSR1still sit on the pad dont go away. Anyone same like this? or it normal?

This thing it not happend with Menzerna polish.

i usaully use xmt pad cleaner to wash & clean the pad. i prefer the pad completely clean & clear without the particular of chemical polish living can i?

Just use a stronger degreaser. 106ff (purplish in color) came out of my white pad that I thought it had stained. I simple sprayed some Purple Power 4:1 on it and let sit for about 15 minutes and then rinsed out with warm water.

It won't come out ... the pad is stained and nothing will remove it. Think of the bright side though, you have a dedicated pad for SSR1 now, no more cross contamination. The pad will be clean but dyed a different color . Here's a trick with SSR1, when you are almost done working on a panel, turn the speed of the PC up to 6, lighten your pressure and move the machine faster side to side and up and down. This'll take the paint to a higher level of gloss. SSR2.5 and SSR1 are the best polishes to use with a PC, IMO. Super easy to use, great results, great price, great service. Plus you wont be disappointed with the PB and PC kit.

yes, your right budman3! i have a dedicated pad for SSR1 already. if that is normal that okay i'm just wondering and thanks for the trick i'll try. :buffing:
