Question about spots on these wheels.

I'm currently detailing my friends car and after cleaning the front wheels I noticed that there are some stains on the wheels that won't come off. I'm assuming that it's brake dust that's eaten its way into the wheels. I can't seem to get the stains off. Any suggestions? Well, can't get the dang pics to upload, sorry.

Those are acid stains, they are from acid attaching to the wheel, however you will need an acidic wheel cleaner like meguiars wheel brightener to get it off

Any other cleaners that will work? I don't have the wheel brightener on hand.

Probably something acidic, i have heard this complaint from many who clean their wheels often
