Question for AG about Wolfgang Sealant and Polycharger

The process I stated above came from Richy, who was told by Jerry (I believe) from Duragloss. Let me see if I can get Richy over here to talk about it.

Thanks Richard

I will take it to the next step too, tomorrow I will call Duragloss and post the answer here.

It sounds like Sam Lankford is behind it all. He is a super nice guy too. I had the honor of meeting him at Detail Fest this year.

*By the way Corey, I was just kidding around!

Oh, I get it "Little Sam"!

I know you're joking!! Wasn't following the little Sam at first though! Im the MAN

Sam was great and I enjoyed the conversation as well!

Combo used - DG 601/501, DG 601/105, DG Aqua Wax.

The PBA states it will remove old wax, how well it works for this is what I am wondering.

Yeah, wouldn't your second app of 601 at least partially (if not more) remove your base coat? I did a little experiment with some of the DG sealants by themselves and one of them over 601 and it did seem to create a little tighter beading, didn't really get to test the durability.

DG 601 can be used with any polymeric sealant. I've been told that by Jerry Bailey. As far as it stripping old wax, I honestly don't know. If it's something like Collinite, good luck! I think what it does is clean the surface to help the sealant bond. When I use it, it is after I have compounded and polished the surface, so there is no wax or sealant left. The main reason I use 601 is so that it flash cures the sealant so I can then top it with another coat of sealant or wax. Otherwise, you'd have to let the sealant cure for 12 hours. Not a big deal if it's your car, but it is a big deal if you're doing a customer's car and need a fast turnaround time. 601 also extends the life of the sealant as well. What I have been doing this summer is mixing 601 and either 501 or 105 in a bottle at a 1:4 ratio of 601 to 501 which saves time. Hope that helps.

From my understanding, no it won't remove the base. It is really used to "flash cure" the product so that you don't have to wait 12 hours for cure time between layers of sealant. I will address this same question when I call Duragloss tomorrow. Don't hold me accountable just yet! I can only offer what I have been told by another trusted source and from my own experiments. If you all have more questions, please post them so that they will be addressed.

Thanks,
Richard

Why? Because of the price?

Price is perfect. :dblthumb2: I wish I could get more things at that price. Mostly wondering about effectiveness. I don't want to waste my time on a ineffective or possibly even detrimental mixture. I always assumed there had to be some products out there that didn't play very nice with PBA.

Awesome! Thanks Richy. You posted this while I was making a response, great timing sir!

Oh oh oh...not rubbing it on the car over your previous layer of sealant...so DG approves of mixing the 601 WITH their sealants...kind of like you mix in ZFX...interesting....

Great Info! Thanks!

Bingo! Polycharger, 601, ZFX...see the pattern?

Yes, that suggestion came from Jerry too. I was doing a fleet of funeral coaches and it was taking so long to do the separate steps that Jerry advised I could mix the 2 in a separate bottle. Now, if you do, you will find (especially when you mix 601 and 105) that is thickens up after about 12 hours. You can still use it but the consistency of the mix changes. I have been using plastic ketchup bottles for my mix of 601 with 501 and 105 and all I do is just add more of the 4:1 ratio into the bottle and it works great. My process for the funeral cars has been:
compound/polish
601/501 (1:4)
601/105 (1:4)
Collinite 845
That has given killer protection that will last them a long time and many, many washes. Their cars get washed very often and not always with the best procedures (I have helped them improve that). BTW, if you're not chasing the funeral homes in your area for business, you're leaving some serious cash on the table. They need their cars mint and they get washed often. I have had a lot of work from just one company and am too busy to chase more of them. There is a lot of work there if someone approaches them.

No Collinite. Autoglym HD 8 weeks old or more with Aquawax after washes. Should not be too tough to remove I hope. I can always use IPA or I have a can of Acry-Solve body shop solvent. I was just worried about them streaking the paint,I have never used them for removing wax on the entire car and it makes me a little nervous. A paint cleanser just sounded safer to me.

Just remember, the product is called a POLISH BONDING AGENT. It is not advertised as strictly a paint cleaner. It prepares the surface for the application of a sealant. If you have wax to remove, then clay the car and use a light polish or a chemical paint cleaner designed stricly for that like a solvent or other. It also extends the life of the sealant.

I used Polycharger for the first time today and looking forward to see how it does.

So I called Duragloss today for a little information. Pretty much what Richy stated is what I received from Jerry:

-DG #601 is a bonding agent, it preps the surface for the sealant, very, very little cleaning ability, not enough to remove wax

-DG #501 has very light abrasives to basically clean the paint on auto's, not enough to remove paint, you can polish your car with it everyday without harm

-DG #901 was formulated to NOT strip wax, 3-4oz. to 4-5 gallons of water is safe for LSP's, it was formulated to make the surface slicker with every wash

-Richy's idea of mixing 601 with 105/111/501 or other products was brilliant, only mix what you need for the task at hand so you don't waste product

Forgot to ask about compatibility with other brands outside of Duragloss, sorry about that.
