Question on detailing finishing product

Wow. I routinely fly for work and both my wife and I work in semi-rural areas, so our vehicles are frequent targets of aviary air strikes. They will often sit at least a work day (sometimes two) at the shortest before I can clean them off. One particularly memorable moment was my car sitting at the airport for a week and got carpet bombed. My vehicle and all the cars around were covered and the pavement in the lot was stained too. No idea how many days it had sat there, but I was able to wash it the next day with no etching at all.

Over the years we've used Klasse Twins, 845, Wolfgang SiO2, and coatings from at least 3~4 brands. The only time I've ever experience any etching was a surgical strike from a VERY large bird (likely a herron) that my wife didn't tell me about. It sat on the paint for around two or three days and I had a small etching spot to deal with, but the greater footprint of the impact zone didn't etch. I was pretty thankful.

From all reviews 2 different uses. 476 longer term wax focused on protection and Souveran all about short term looks.
Maybe 476 as base and topped with Souveran to amp up looks?

I vacillated on ceramic coating for my weekend cruise night car after having a bit of a struggle remove the spray ceramic from last season for spring detail. This time I did final polish with CarPro Essence and then topped with Essence Plus. Too early for a durability report, but the appearance and slickness is off the charts. And light spot correction here and there will be a breeze without dealing with coating removal.

When I was working at a car wash there was a guy who came in a few times (I used to get shuffled between two locations). His Ford Explorer was a stand out because each time he came through the water beaded up and rushed off his paint.

One day I had to asked him what he used and he said it was a wax in a white tin called Collins or something. He said he bought it at Harbor Freight. This was back in 2009. He came back again and gave me the exact info.

I never tried I though. We at the wash were heavy into Turtle Wax Ice Paste for the same reason. One of our employees had it on his Tahoe. Everyone that worked there started using it. Not too long after that is when I discovered the Duragloss 101 and 111. The Duragloss was easier to use and lasted just as long.

The 476 was the first thing we saw that stood up to the brushes in the wash after that it was Ice Paste and then the Duragloss. My Zymol and Meguiar's waxes didn't survive the wash!

That's a great story, Dan.

Funny, because I have never tried the DG 101/111 as much as I like DuraGloss products. Lol

One thing I always thought about Collinite products (that I love) is: You open that can, and it'll make your eyes water with the petroleum fumes.

Collinite doesn't give a rats ass about fragrances, coloring, or ease of use. All of that sh!t is window dressing.

Hold your breath, use gloves if needed, and follow the f*cking directions.......... :righton::laughing::laughing:
 
question, i was looking through all my stuff and I came across an unopened bottle of meguiar's mirror glaze synthetic sealant 2.0. it is yearsssss old and I was not sure if it is still good or shall i just get rid of it? How Do i know if it is still any good? there is no dates on the bottle.

Look at it. If it doesn’t looks seperated and of normal consistency it’s probably still good. Durability may take a hit.
