Question on Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System

I watched the video on this and I'm thinking of trying it, but Mike and the others were always talking about OEM paint. What about 'aftermarket' paint jobs? As I bought my car used, I have no idea if it is the original paint or if it has been painted since then.

I have been trying to get all the swirls and water spot off my car since I got it.

seeing that your car is a 2007 i highly doubt it is repainted unless it was involved in an accident. did you get a carfax report when you bought it? any reports of accidents?

im not totally sure but im sure you could use it of a panel that has been painted before just not on something that has been painted recently. but some repaints do tend to come with softer clears so maybe they're just cautioning you?

I have read about many people using it on repainted vehicles. It will not harm your paint at all to use it on repainted cars. The only downside would be the compound not finishing as clear as it would on harder paint. There could be some haze leftover.

The only way to tell for sure would be to try it out. You could purchase the 16 oz bottle of compound and a 2 pack of cutting disks and test it out.

again, you are not harming the paint in any way buy using on a repainted panel.

mg6045 is right in his assessment.

I use it on all sorts of paints. Lacquer, enamel, single stage, basecoat/clearcoat, soft and hard paints, etc.

Just used the discs on a repainted Chevelle I wet-sanded. I will use these discs for all paint types. I always use them before anything else.

Since factory applied paints are sprayed and cured to exacting standards, it makes sense that in order to "guarantee" no swirls, Meguiar's recommends it for factory applied paints only.

Further, since both products contain ingredients that are not considered "Body Shop Safe" as defined by Meguiar's, they probably chose not to deal with the associated potential drama.
